sending company headquarters to Texas.
The fact that California keeps incubating successful businesses that outsource or straight up move in the first place is impressive and something Texans benefit from.
If the companies in Cali weren't successful and if they were instead more like Texas then Texas would not benefit nearly as much.

California has a much better infrastructure than at least Alabama. I can't deny that. Their roads overall are much better, probably better schools, or at least funding of the schools.

I would think he'd set his residence as Texas considering that's where he went to school. No state income taxes either.

They also have a thriving economy and a budget surplus
They may have a surplus now, but it seems like they have a budget crisis every 5 years. Not to mention all of the terrible gun laws.

Just live in Nevada. Hell of a lot more cheaper and a couple hour drive from Cali.

Could he not just buy a trailer in Texas and claim that as his main residence? Honestly asking.

How long is the NBA season? Less than 6 months right? If he lived in another state longer than that, how would he have to be a California resident? I would agree his NBA salary should be taxed as a California resident, but if he owns a house in Texas as that's where he is from I don't see why he couldn't stay a resident there for his endorsement deals.

It won't all go to Cali, nor will it all be Cali taxable. Jock Tax son!

No, taxes aren't based on where you live, it's based on where you earn them.
It'll mess with his endorsement money more than anything.

I have lived in Alabama. Talked to s couple from Cali on vacation once and they were amazed when we told them our daughters school had art, music, drama etc. apparently a lot of schools there don't have finding for those type of programs.
Don't doubt that they were amazed....but it was probably based more on the fact that they didn't think folks in Alabama had indoor plumbing or compulsory education past the fourth grade, thanks to the way that TV and movies portray our region of the country.

It's like 10 months preseason - finals if you make the finals like Golden State hopes to.

Welcome, Kevin Durant. Now about your California income taxes...
god forbid he be able to afford his tax bill.

So the 2015/ 16 season started Oct 27 and the last finals game was June 19. So 8 months. But heck I mean half the games are away games right? So a good 15-25% of his salary is paid from out of state, I'm assuming signing bonus and then obviously all home games he is taxed from California?
Why do I care, the dude probably pays an accountant at least $25k a year to figure this out for him and its not like its going to change anything he does.

with the abundances of natural resources California has, it's insane they even need a state income tax, especially as heavy a one as they levy
