Governments across the globe are out of control with overreach into people's lives.

It's hard to imagine we in America today enjoy more liberty, in the fundamental sense of the word, than the subjects of the Roman, Egyptian, Mongolian, or even pre-1776 British Empires.

We probably jail more people for inoffensive, non-invasive nonsense than any of those empires' amount of slaves at their height.

Yeah, those 35 hr work weeks are a bitch.

I remember them rioting in the streets when France went from a 30 hr to a 35 hr work week.

One thing I admire about the French - they are NOT afraid to get out in the streets and protest. It might be over the most trivial thing, but they're going to let the gov't know they're paying attention.

Otherwise, a lot of French people I've worked with are insufferable a-holes but I guess that's their culture. They were all pretty good sports about it when I brought it up. LOL

Just politicians grandstanding as usual. Having companies actually have a written policy would be nice, since some of the higher ups at work have very opposing views on weekend emails.

The French really know how to retreat from work, it's like they have a natural tendency of retreat programmed in.

The French people are all of the negative things we've been told. Is it any wonder why Louisiana is so bad? It is, after all, of French heritage.

When I travel to Alabama, those fine folks, they are of British heritage, and they always like to talk about how nasty Frenchies, French, France and Louisiana are. All I can do is say, I hear you, my British Brother, I frequent LSU message boards and I can tell you that even the natives of Louisiana agree that the French are feckless cowards and worthy of death.

So, there seems to be a universal agreement that all things French, France and Louisiana are stupid, cowardly, dirty, etc. -- really Loser-iana.

So, it seems that you chaps are right on point with this.

Keep Calm and Carry On.

I don't admire them at all for this because 99% of the time it's whining about the government not doing enough for them. Same as here; I don't respect protesting shitheads demanding expansion of government in the least.

I don't have a problem with emails, I just don't check them. If it's an emergency they will text or call which isn't very often.

I like France. Beautiful country, great food, art, etc. But how they remain competitive in today's globalized economy is beyond me.

I like how working more hours means more productive and better work. Must be a bunch of manual labor grunts in here....

Americans talking shite about the French Military is hilarious. France has been a country for 1600 years. In that 1600 years they have a ton of arse kicking they handed out, and only one bad war really. America has been a country for only 240 years and we already managed Vietnam.....

Making it illegal is ridiculous. This is one of those "one size fits all" government approaches that will have negative consequences

Funny how most Americans don't remember anything before WWII.

I'm told it's fairly common to not remember something you weren't alive to experience.
