Looks like my wedding earns a trashiness score of 42%.

There will probably be a money dance. Future wife wants one. I'm indifferent to it. (1 point)

We have a band.

We have an open bar.

Food will be buffet/serve yourself. (1 point)

We have wedding favors.

I'm sure there will probably be both bouquet and garter toss. (0.5 points)

2.5/6 = 42%

Shouldn't you be at brunch right now sipping mimosa's with all the other classy people? or are you still playing tennis at the club in your sweater vest? If you need someone to clean your yacht i can come down to the yacht club this afternoon after i get off my shitty job.
Stay classy bro.

Yeah, because having Brunch and mimosas is clearly something people who think they're better than others partake in.

Don't sweat it. Best of luck to you.

Really, the only thing that I personally find "tacky" is the garter toss. While I would never do the money dance personally, I find it "quaint", for lack of a better description.

Questionable by whom? I didn't question it at all and would do it again if starting over.

Trashy isn't something I'm used to being called, but it sure wouldn't offend me. Just make me laugh.

Trashy people tend to not hang out with non-trashy people who will call them trashy to their face. Ignorance is bliss.

How old are you?
Does the thought of buying newlyweds drinks on their honeymoon really offend you?
I buy random strangers drinks on their honeymoon when I'm vacationing. The thought of buying a round for my 23 year old niece a round since I won't be there hardly irks me.

Got it I've always been concerned with this.

Not sweating it at all, whatever keeps the bride happy.

I like threads like this where I can gauge my level of trashiness. Coming in at below 50% is pretty good for a Rummel alum that grew up near the Metairie/Kenner border.

If the newlyweds expect me to dance with them and put the cash somewhere on their body before I give it to them...then yes.

You could accomplish the same thing with an envelope drop box or a honeyfund website on the registry and then no one will talk shite about how trashy your money dance was

The best man and maid of honor collect it in a pouch or something. I've never seen it pinned. It's not like money is just flying around.

It's the exact same thing. The only difference is it gives everybody an opportunity to spend a moment with the couple during what is usually a very hectic night for them to stop and congratulate them.

Anywho...I'm done.

Old enough not to be concerned with petty stuff like this.

No. That's why you give them a few bucks to buy a round

Who's concerned (actually, you're the one that seems to be)? It's the OT.

Yeah, typically, I give a gift and/or an envelope with money. It's generally more than "a few bucks."

Thanks

How so? And does posting a quick opinion really constitute "overthinking" something?

Well then have a dance without the money part. Instantly not trashy.

Putting cash on people is the trashy part. Unless it really is about the money and you think having facetime and the whole crowd staring at you will force them to give more vs a drop box which is what I really suspect this is what this is about.
