Awesome. How many cuts are on it? I used the term "cuts" instead of songs cause it sounds more hip. I used the term "hip" instead of cool for the same reason.
We call them "tracks" in the profession

I wish I could remember what I put on it... Aside from "Can't Help Falling In Love" by Elvis of course, which Federal law mandates must be put on every wedding CD.

I think I also put on Elvis's version of "I Love You Because", although I really like Leon Payne's original version. Unfortunately most people nowadays would reject it as too hillbilly.

Band vs DJ is sometimes more about status than actual preference.

This is the OT so its 100% band.

But for the average person a DJ is a better choice. More variety and cheaper. DJ doesnt take breaks.

You will have young teens and old people. DJ's can play something for everyone.

Band- only Funk and soul music. The aspiring pop singers or country acts can get the frick out, I don’t need to hear your take on “friends in low places”

First, have an open bar. Then no one will care if it's a band or a DJ, they'll just have a great time.

Get a DJ because it is less expensive.

I had a DJ because I didnt want to have some mediocre singer ruining my favorite songs by not knowing how to stay in their range.

It's all about preference. My DJ played some nice classy Jazz music for the 1st half when we ate, the toasts, etc. The 2nd half after the older people left it turned into a complete party. The DJ was able to accommodate both phases seamlessly.

Plus DJs are typically cheaper

This. If you can afford to spend an extra $5,000+ on a big brass band this is the way to go. If not, your guests will still have fun with a dj (as long as there is open bar).

We spent like $3k on 4 piece band. They were great for all the first dance songs, but once they took their break and played rap music through the radio that's when the dance floor really started poppin'. We got a bunch of trashy friends that love to dance to rap though. I guess it worked out well cause we essentially had both, but the band ended up leaving early cause our guests were dancing more to the radio than the band.

The best wedding band I ever saw was the Boogeymen in New Orleans. They played at my sister's wedding and had the whole dance floor rockin' all night long.

Get a band. Have them play some tunes and also have an amateur DJ. Let the band mingle for 30-40 minutes and then close their set with some funk music. Then play closing time and tell everyone to GTFO the venue.

Get a band. It was not cheap but it made the reception and several told me it was the best wedding they'd ever been to.

They can also have some stuff on the computer if there's something you really want that they don't perform.

Wedding: Band or DJ
I’ve worn a wedding band since during Reagan’s first term.

DJ is aging well, why do I have to choose between the two?

We did DJ bc it was waaaay cheaper and we paid for our own wedding. If I had to do it again, I’d just get married at the courthouse and go on the honeymoon instead of paying for all that shite.
