These threads are just nuts considering like 25 people have died in a fairly stout tornado outbreak
40 tornadoes across 8 states with 31 dead in less than 48 hours with the event still going.
But guess people were expecting entire towns to be blown away, since it isn't a "hurricane". Like it's some competition.
Social media I think has driven people to just give bad takes for amusement

Have to say I agree. Arkansas and Missouri not in the risk area, but got destroyed.
New Orleans in a 4 out of 5 Moderate but it rained here maybe 15 minutes, never lost power and we had a normal day. Was like a usual front line passing through, nothing more.
Exactly. All this proves these graphics are just eye candy. Has anyone studied them and graded them on accuracy?

We need some MAGA weathermen to give us the real news and not fear monger.
I told y’all BR was just going to get some rain today. Cells weren’t going to crank up until they got into a better environment near southern Mississippi and far east Louisiana.

egocentric Birmingham Meteorologist that’s made a lot of money by getting people really wound up and to call him out is complete blasphemy around here.
Are you talking about James Spann? Egocentric is a crazy take.

The guy who made that post certainly didn't.

When reality comes in and today was a pretty bad day for a lot of people across the South
Even worse for the forecasters because more and more people are not listening anymore. Why should they when a historic storm is predicted and nothing extreme happened in their area.
The thing is what happened wasn’t unusual. Storms formed just north of BR and moved to our northeast.

Like every other industry, there's good and bad. Find a good, reputable guy like Spann in B'Ham or David Chandley here in Atlanta, guys who have been doing it for 3 decades +. Drown out all the other noise. Don't listen to the Ginger Zee's or Rob Marciano's.

Spann is part of the liberal MSM. He is definitely an egocentric.

Weather, even at its best, is an inexact science.

Spann is literally an enemy of the left’s climate change BS. They HATE him. What are you even talking about?

All kinds of shite was canceled today for 5 fricking minutes of rain

Which is more reason that these severe weather threat events need to be treated with gray area. Decision makers get a map see a threat level 4/5 and decide to shut everything down.
Posted on 3/15/25 at 8:16 pm to CE Tiger
Because the risk analysis is pretty obvious here. Everyone with the data they had going into today would have cancelled large outdoor events. There was a massive tornado less than a few hours north east of baton rouge.
What are we missing?
What are we missing?

But it’s not cancelling outdoor events it’s shutting everything down. Archdiocese of New Orleans recommended cancellation of any extra curricular school activity including indoor events for an abundance of caution and risking people out and about in the weather. And everything points to the big scary map with the arse tip of the moderate level starting around New Orleans . With no discussion of an actual weather forecast and some winds

One of the weather guys said "for 95%of the population, nothing will happen. The other 5% could possibly lose their homes. I'm trying to protect them".

Reports are a tornado hit a trailer park in Calera, AL. I hope those people were smart enough to be somewhere else.

Most of the time these guys get this stuff right.
But you can't account for changes in barometric pressure, convection that tears the storms apart during the actual event.
