Avery got the OJ treatment. He was guilty, and the cops planted evidence.

The Brendan Dassey kid, though, I think may be innocent. That "confession" from the little retard was pure horseshite.

The best part about the show is that it shows people how cops and courts work. That Dassey interrogation was not unusual and shows why people are so fricking stupid to waive their rights and talk to them to "clear their name" or such. Don't be a sucker.

Interering note: if you lie to the FBI, it is a federal crime for which people often go to prison. Ask Jim Brown. Yet the police are allowed to lie to people when interrogating them. (We have your DNA at the scene, or Your partner down the hall just confessed and said you were the leader, etc.)

Not convinced about Dassey, but Avery is guilty. At least two MSD officers belong in prison with him.

Before I riot, I'd like the prosecution to produce a documentary in rebuttal to the defense.

Yes it is. If Dassey was talking to a cop, he had waived his right to remain silent.

Dassey's lawyer allowed the cops to question him without the attorney present, which was a moronic move. He should have never let the kid talk to them at all.

Life in prison for Steve?

Just because he messed up the names of the Miss Universe winner?

Harsh man, harsh.

There's No way he cleaned up blood from the crime scene, but then left the car key in his room and the car on the lot. He was framed.

There's no way these two are guilty. To believe that means you believe two guys with the combined IQ of an idiot were on the one hand able to rape, slit the throat, stab, and finally shoot a woman without leaving a drop of blood or trace of DNA. You've also got to believe Steve Avery was smart enough to not leave any finger prints in her car but dumb enough to leave lots of blood. And on the other hand you've got to believe dozens of highly trained professional law enforcement officers and crime scene techs searched the trailer and garage like 6-8 time without seeing a bullet and set of keys laying out in the open.

that isn't everything that must be considered when questioning a minor.

quote:

The same rules apply when the situation involves the questioning of minors. The Supreme Court recently expanded on those rules, however, when it decided that the police must take a person's age into account when determining whether the circumstances of a case merit a Miranda notification.

The case the Court ruled upon involved a 13 year-old boy whom the police suspected of involvement with two burglaries. A police officer went to his school, removed him from class and placed him in a conference room with the door closed and two school administrators present. The officer did not give the boy a Miranda warning or inform him that he could leave the room at any time prior to beginning the questioning. After the boy admitted to participation in the burglaries, however, the officer told the boy that he could refuse to answer questions and leave whenever he wanted. The boy stayed and provided further detail about the crimes.

The Supreme Court held that the trial judge improperly denied the boy's request to throw out the statements he made to police because he did not receive the proper Miranda notification. The Court recognized the fact that, because of their relative immaturity and lack of experience, children "cannot be viewed simply as miniature adults".

Since minors' comprehension of their situation differs from that of adults, the Court reasoned, their understanding of when a questioning constitutes custody will also differ. Minors may experience more acquiescence to authority, and so may require Miranda notifications in situations that would not trigger the Miranda requirement for adults.

Case in quote
in this case the ruling was made even with school admin present in the room on campus. Dassey was taken to the police station with no one else in the room except the detectives.

At that point he did not have a lawyer who gave permission to detectives to be quetioned.

I just started watching and I am on episode 6. So far the defense, to me, has raised enough doubt about the case to require a not guilty verdict. They seemed to be able to counter, thus far, every bit of the state's evidence.

Yes, I know this documentary is one side and tries to paint Avery in a sympathetic light. However, the MSD is corrupt AF and the county had every reason to try and pin something on Avery (Re: his civil lawsuit.) Hell, the damn sheriff went on TV and basically said it would have been easy to kill Avery. So far, there is enough doubt that I would have voted not guilty.

I see tons of people saying Avery is guilty of killing that young woman. Am I missing something?
