We are only 1 year away from New Horizons’ approach to a Kuiper Belt object

The mission for the probe that flew by Pluto was extended to include a flyby with pictures of a Kuiper Belt object on Jan 1, 2019.
Sadly this might be the last deep space probe event that happens for decades.

Pretty crazy that it took New Horizons 9 years to get to Pluto. The scale in space is, umm, astronomical.

Actually, Genius, there was a campaign initiated by UK schoolchildren, and picked up by Disney to reinstate Pluto.
