It was.
Vince could get someone over and make them a real star. What did WCW ever homegrown create besides goldberg..which was 1 dimensional. Everyone else there, made an impact cause they were made by Vince at some point.
Even the wcw stars who left, like Jericho, Benoit, Guerrero, Austin, Foley, etc were able to flourish.
Eric bischoff and Ted Turner didnt know the business like McMahon. Vince is smarter and ran his company better.
The only thing WCW had to offer was fast cash and days off because the roster was over saturated. Their storylines blew, they had 1 NWO angle that they milked the shite out of. And even that was based off of Vince's guys showing up taking over.
And the audience believed 2 guys could come in and clean house there.
Much like how they tried to repeat when luger showed up at the mall on their first nitro.
Cash is king.

That's why I said longterm.
The networks helped wcw too. Most people had TNT and TBS. Not everyone had USA network.
I personally couldnt stand wcw. But I appreciate them lighting a fire under Vince's arse. It made for great tv.

During the 90s, it was so much fun watching WCW’s Monday Night Nitro go against WWF’s Monday Night Raw.
Those were some of the greatest days in wrestling history. I watched both WCW and WWF, but during the Monday Night wars, I probably tuned into WCW more. The nWo was a fascinating story line, and Hogan was such a great heel. Some of his best work was done as 'Hollywood'.

You had the sex appeal with Debra, the late Elizabeth and the Nitro Girls, like DDP’s wife

I saw Ernie Ladd getting arrested off of St. Claude and Elysian Fields in the 80's. There was no mistaking who he was.

1997 Sunny was one of the hottest women on earth

Wcw owned them in the 90s.
For like a year and a half. WWF was on top the rest of the decade and WCW was out of business right after. I'd even argue that the WWF's Attitude Era was more popular than the NWO in WCW.

Ric Flair was what ravishing Rick rude wishes he could of been.

It's no argument, Vince didnt have to play people chanting Austin's name over the PA system.
Wcw did it to themselves by hiring that worthless piece of shite Vince Russo. I wish Cornette would get his hands on him.

Flair was something else. He could make anyone look great. In the ring, the equivalent of a great unselfish basketball player who makes everyone around him better.
But IRL, I'd rather have fought Flair. Rude was a legit baw.

NWA/WCW 80!s
Tully Blanchard against Magnum TA in an I quit match
Magnum married Tully’s ex wife. Tessa is probably the best female wrestler on the planet that’s not signed by the Wwe

WWE desperately needs another WCW to come along and force them to be more creative. This is what their average weekly television attendance looks like
The current product is going all in with pushing women’s wrestling more so than the men. Their top star at the moment (who is in the ring above in a half empty arena) calls herself “The Man”. They even had a woman show up in the Royal Rumble this year and clean house until it took multiple men to take her out.
That’s a far cry from what made wrestling great and entertaining years ago.
