As I said, I have a friend in the guard who was shot at by civilians. It wasn't the apocalypse movie that CNN said it was, but it was not pleasant.

Blanco was a clueless governor.

During my 9 hour drive in gridlock to Baton Rouge during the evacuation, I remember that idiot coming on the radio telling us how well the evacuations were going.

When people started calling her out on it, saying that some sort of contra-flow should have been set up through Baton Rouge, her response was "well, we have to have respect for the residents of Baton Rouge. We don't want to inconvenience them." This was around hour 5. My rage was palpable.

. Lake view and St Bernard parish were every bit as devestated as the 9th ward.

All those million plus dollar houses in Old Metairie on and around Northline were flooded to their second floors, but you didn't hear shite about that...

I especially like the part where the old black guy in the lower 9th says her heard a big boom right before the levees broke (referring to the whole dynamite thing). Meanwhile in the background there’s a giant barge sitting on top the houses! Hmmmmmmm maybe that’s the boom you heard old man! When the barge slammed into the concrete wall!

They shipped a bunch of those refugees from the second video to LSUS. I was doing Olympic lifting there back then so I had to walk through them everyday to get to the gym. It was interesting.

Forgive me if this was already covered in this thread, but the demographics of the deaths followed the demographics of the city right down the line. Katrina killed evenly regardless of race wealth, any of that. the only demographic that died disproportionately was the elderly. they weren't strong enough to break out of their attic onto the roof. that's why Lakeview had three or four hundred deaths I can't remember the exact number.

because this whole thing has turned into a Bush bashing film

I'd love to see somebody ask Spike Lee or Kanye West if they've ever heard of the President's Malaria Initiative or PEPFAR - 2 plans that Bush concocted that have saved tens of millions of African lives.
