Never said others should not as well....just said it was a pathetic double standard...we had a,1000 year flood. Lost 100000 homes to the water....which is a much higher percentage of the State population as a whole than Texas or Florida, and got almost no attention from the media, and no big stars raising money from a phone bank....not enough color, not enough blue pills, not enough of something, obviously.

LA Govt has a bad reputation for how they take care of their own
it wasnt a LARGE city with easy accessible media
out of town reporters need a place to stay
Folks had already given to LA for other disasters it reaches a point of fatigue ( might not be fair but its human)
it was a personal slight toward you
Houston stepped up BIG time after Katrina, even the City of NOLA acknowledges this
people want to help those they believe that can then use that help to better themselves
Houston and South Texas showed the grit and personal reliance that give confidence to benefactors

I hate when people get all pissy because they feel like there event didn't get enough attention. When huge population centers are affected it gets more attention as it should.

Louisiana did a shitty show called "Louisiana Rising" where Better Than Ezra was the biggest name they had. It was filmed at River Center theatre and shown nationwide.

What about all of the people who lose their homes caused by wildfire, mudslides, etc throughout the country? Do you ever see money being raised for those people? Hurricanes dishes out widespread damage and they are able to be tracked so media outlets are able to set up shop before it even hits. And once it does, they are able to show all of the destruction and it becomes a much bigger story.

As someone that's been at ground zero in Rockport a bunch of times in the last two weeks cleaning up I can tell you there is no shortage of donated items, the city and county finally had to tell folks to stop bringing stuff as they had no where to put it all. There are parking lots in town full of clothes that have been left by folks free for the taking, every other corner in town has pallets of water free for the taking, food trucks, BBQ pits smoking 24 hours a day, refrigerated trucks full of ice, chainsaws, generators, tarps, you name it and it can be had. Pretty much all of the above came from private citizens or companies like HEB who have gone over and above in Rockport. I have no idea where all these cash donations are being used, I know I haven't been approached by anyone with a bag of cash to help out with our losses lol, I did read on the city's fb page today that FEMA has paid out 16 million dollars to citizens in Aransas County to date.
