The psycho got a photo op with First Lady Rosalyn Carter, complete with Secret Service clearance for God's sake.

The last victim was popular athlete straight kid he snatched right from his mom at a drugstore by his house. He definitely felt protected and probably half his victims were straight teenager boys from working class families.

The cops just didn’t give a shite about missing boys, so of course a Pedofile ring is going to flourish

My ex girlfriend's familyblived on the same street. Her oldest brother has pictures of him in clownface at his birthday. Apparently it gave him psychological issues just by association, people never think about those kinds of victims.

I'm sure a lot of missing teenagers were simply presumed to be runaways, especially in the 60's and 70's. Reading about the cults and communes back then, it's amazing how even established, employed, married adults could just disappear to the compound and break off all contact with anyone who ever knew them.

Seems almost impossible in our age of constant contact to imagine someone just disappearing without foul play, but it was probably a very different mindset back then when people had romantic notions of hitchhiking to see the country, or just running off to start a new life.

And at times the only way to get in contact with someone was on a landline. And maybe that 2am call that wasn't answered in time was them..no caller ID so who knows. Back then people really didn't communicate near as much.

Too bad he wasn't given the burning cage treatment. Certainly deserved it.
