Watch thread: Bought my first "good one"

I wanted to step up from my Orient Ray diver, so started doing more research on what may be a good entry level luxury watch. Thanks to Obtuse, BigPapi, Broke, etc. for shedding some light on this subject over the years. Decided on the 79220N, purchased from a US seller with box and papers. I love it, feels really solid, keeps great time, looks good on a bracelet or strap (I switched to the nylon strap when I got it, just feels more comfortable to me).
Secondary reason for purchasing, when my Dad died a couple years ago I kind of wished he would have had a watch that he could pass down, but he wasn't a watch guy. My plan is to hold onto this one and at some point pass it down to one of my kids. And side benefit, when I look at this one it makes me think of the old man.
And question for the watch guys, I have two kids. So...need another one. I don't have a Rolex budget, but looking for something different than the Tudor, not a dress watch, wouldn't mind an interesting model (big reason why I picked the smiley rose). I will wear it often, don't want to go above 41 mm.
Any thoughts?

Excellent watch. I have the BB58 and I wish it was the smiley rose sometimes.
As far as the 2nd watch, what's your upper limit for price? I'd say a speedmaster, but that might be getting close to the "Rolex budget" you mentioned. It's slightly more expensive than your Tudor, unless you wanted to get a Reduced (but i don't like them)
ETA just noticed you said you don't want to go above 41mm. The speedy wears smaller than that imo, but if you're dead set on no larger than 41, it rules that out.

Welcome to the edge of the abyss. It only gets more expensive from here.
Save a few more sheckles and buy an Omega Speedmaster. It is definitely a Hand Me Down worthy timepiece.
Love that Tudor. It is on my list for Buy Soon.

Yes you did. Congrats! This is going to sound weird. But the Pip is what makes this watch for me.

Love the idea of handing a watch down to my son. I wear an Omega Speedmaster Dark Side of the Moon… it will be passed to my son at some point… either his 18th birthday or something similar. That Tudor is also a very nice looking piece.

Every watch collection worth the name needs a speedy.

I like the Tag's. You can get them in some interesting colorways

For your second one, take a look at STOWA. They are German and damn fine watches that won’t break the bank. I have this one, but with a metal band.

Thinking about a birth year Speedmaster for one of the kids, which would be in the 2008-2013 range. Buying used appeals to me, if it's worth it both monetarily or for a specific model.

I'm looking at of these. Reminds me of something a Bond villain would wear. They can usually be found for around 5k. Also will eventually pull the trigger on a Sub or Explorer II from the year I graduated college. I think I deserve to buy myself a many years belated graduation present.

Omega is great and Rolex prices are coming down...might be surprised with what you could afford

I'd like to keep it under $6000, wish an Explorer or Milgauss would drop that low soon.

Nice watch although I don’t like the idea of putting a couple thousand dollar watch on a nylon bracelet
