frick wasps. It was about 2 years ago I was playing basketball and when I hit the rim I was attacked. 3 stings to my face. I couldn't see out of my left eye for about 5 days, it was swollen shut. I looked like fricking sloth from the goonies. frick wasps

They're absolutely worse this year. I work for the phone company, and you haven't lived until you climb a 30' ladder and open up an aerial terminal filled with those bastards. Fortunately, it's mostly red wasps up there--not the smaller guineau (striped) ones. Red wasps are not nearly as aggressive, and if I encounter a small nest of them on ground level, I'll knock it down with my cap and step back while they fly away. When it's guineau wasps, I drown those damn things with spray.

I have some purple martins who have a nest by my porch. They seem to keep them away

I don't have many fears, but wasps scare the shite out of me. I'm the guy running for dear life if one approaches me.
I always have wasps flying around in my backyard and I've only been stung once in 19 years and it was while swimming in the pool.

They pretty much just leave you alone. Swat your hand around if they get too close and they'll fly away.

They only get really pissed and attack you if you disturb their nest.

Man, even the fans of the Pelicans have weird injuries on the basketball court.

Dirt daubers are the worst about that. My attic looks like an alien infestation.

Cosmo mentioning WASPs. Hmmm, thought this thread was going to be about something else.
