Hilarious joke is the nurse administrator telling everyone how hard she works... then admitting in the same thread that she only performs clerical *not* clinical duties (read: nothing of any real importance to anyone). And the kicker: little miss "I work 80 years worth of nights and weekends" is actually just a paper pusher who never touches a patient and punches out before rush hour even starts.
LMAO. Boom indeed.

I bet you’re a shite doctor.

It would be very nurse-like to withhold treatment over a goofy comment. Congrats on the pettiness.

Ah, an ICU player- welcome. Who do you think places that balloon pump, cannulates for VA or VV ECMO, or directs filtration rates on continuous dialysis?
Hint: not the nursing staff...
Better yet, I have never walked into a resuscitation in that oh-so-tough-ICU-nurses domain and stated "Who is running this code?" and had the answer be some nurse.
Goddamn this thread is bringing out the morons

Bro, you ever seen a nurse administrator? Lets just say... you aren't white knighting for what you think you are white knighting for.

Correct. Nurses are the only profession that can rival teachers for the most Facebook complaining about how hard their jobs are.

While both may complain, one has very legitimate complaints. The other, not so much.

You are right. Teachers are babysitting nurse’s kids while they are playing cards between sack sessions with the residents.

Typical surgeon. So full of his ego he can’t even read where I said I had 16 years of actual patient care before I moved into my current role.
And I never said I worked harder than you fwiw. Just pointing out that infection control nurses do more than just hold a clipboard and do hand hygiene audits. We work with your department on a regular basis much more than you think. You must not be as high up in your department as you think if you didn’t know that basic fact.

Considering my department is in charge of doing surveillance and reporting HAIs to the CDC and CMS...I'd say there is some importance. Again..must not be very high up in your department if you can't grasp how HAI rates affect hospital $$$. Hospitals are penalized hundreds of thousands of dollars now if their rates are too high. What department do you think helps come up with solutions to lower HAI rates throughout the hospital?

No, but I know a douche bag when I see one.

Oh my, whatever did we do without all these useless bloated hospital administrators to save us from our ways?!
Its cute that you have to defend the existence of your clerk tasks like any of that matters. Clipboard toting white-walkers like you cost the US taxpayer more than any value you could ever possibly bring.
My service is necessary and valuable to anyone in this thread, and whether they would admit it or not is irrelevant so I don't really care. That fact is not debatable. Patients visit the hospital for care. To see doctors. Not empty suits who work 9-5. There are THOUSANDS just like you. It is why care is so expensive in our nation.
Your service is not necessary. Thats why no one calls in the middle of the night going "Dear God, if only the clipboard nurse was here!!"

I actually carry an on call phone(I have it this weekend). That my coworkers and I take turns carrying 24/7 for the infection control department. And I have gotten calls in the middle of the night on how to manage an exposure in the hospital. Granted...it doesn't require me to physically come into the hospital(unless it's ebola or something like that)..I still have to be available to consult. And I don't even get paid extra to carry the phone cause I'm salary.
My job isn't as useless as you think. I also have to correct idiot surgeons who take possible TB patients out of airborne isolation in a surgical icu on a whim without double checking with a pulmonologist or ID first. Then I have to consult with my medical director and start the exposure process to figure out who all on the unit (staff and patients) have now been exposed to TB cause some surgeon is too full of his ego to admit they don't know everything.

I’m a nurse in the ER. I don’t complain, don’t go on rants about being underpaid. I’m not going to give the time of day to the woman in Washington State. I do enjoy having 3 days off a week. Sometimes 4 if I don’t pick up overtime. One of the reasons I switched professions was for that reason and it’s never dull working in the ER.
