Nah I don’t need to do that. The surgeon and I have a rapport through real life experience in the OR in which he trust my knowledge base and skill set based off collaborative experiences.

Don’t be mad man.

Obfuscate and lie. All your shame is apparent. We are here for you. Where's that loser with the "i pity you" posts? This charlatan nurse needs one right now.

Not mad. The cardiac surgeons where I work will not let a CRNA do a cardiac case but will allow an anesthesiologist do the case the first day on the job. I guess they don’t have that rapport through real life experience in the OR in which they trust the nurse anesthetists knowledge base and skill set based off collaborative experiences.

You work in Beaumont. Enough said. Nobody wants heart surgery there.

16 pages of nurses being defensive.

Not surprised.

Again trolly doc...you are so bad at reading comprehension. I have over 16 years of clinical nursing experience in mostly pediatrics but also some postpartum, and limited experience in the NICU and PICU when I was floated there. Just because I'm not currently at the bedside caring for patients...doesn't make me any less of a nurse. I've been a pretty fricking open book on this board and have posted numerous times over the past 2 years about not being at the bedside anymore.

I've only been away from the bedside for 2 years. I keep my pediatric nursing certification current cause I worked hard to get the certification and don't want to lose it. I'm not current on my PALS and NRP but could easily get those redone in refresher courses if I ever went back to the bedside full time or took a second nursing job for extra cash. Only reason I don't keep it current is I don't want to shell out the $400-600 my hospital used to pay for me for the classes when I was working on the peds floor.

I guess no one wants cardiac surgery at Texas Heart Institute either. Only anesthesiologist led anesthetics delivered there.

Hell, even the hand surgeon here in town will not do a case at one of the hospitals in the area because there is no anesthesiologist there.

How many people are begging to have cardiac surgery in a rural hospital? I’d suppose none and the fact that you say you drop echos for cardiac surgery, throw in some thoracic epidurals and central lines is just another lie to increase your self importance. Just be proud of being a nurse anesthetist, no need to deceive others into believing you’re something more.

Are you a cardiologist or an echo sonographer?

the thread has devolved to a handful of insecure, insufferable twats who believe they are far more valuable than they really are.

Then wtf do you do that gives you all this "insight" to the various scopes of practice of these different medical professionals?

Wait, so are nurses the most hated profession on the OT now? Teachers finally get a break? It is very confusing because everyone wishes they could have fricked their teachers but also hate them for fricking their kids friends. Just want to be sure.

Do you work for a hospital or do you have your own anesthesia group? The anesthesia group I work with has a few anesthesiologists and 5 times as many CRNAs who run the show in the OR. They can call on the anesthesiologists if they want a recommendation, but for the most part they work as a squad if something serious happens, which isn't often.

The anesthesiologist that did my IV sedation for my egg retrieval last month has you pay the day of egg retrieval. My fertility clinic let us know this well in advance (remember IVF usually isn't covered by insurance so everything you pay up front). I paid by credit card and he pulled out his phone with his Square credit card reader and swiped my card as I'm sitting up on the gurney in the recovery area of the clinic He made some easy quick money that Saturday morning. I think there must have been 4 of us scheduled. 2 grand for like 2-3 hours at the clinic.

What did you say your specialty was? I missed it and I'm not scrolling back through pages to find it. And do you take call for the hospital(s) you are affiliated with?

Do you expose your opinion of nurses to those you work with?
