years ago the top comment would be pretty good at calling out the BS in the thread. then it went to 3 or 4 comment chains down before you'd find the comment. now your lucky if anyone even bothers.

but I find this website actually promotes better diversity of thought than almost all of the subreddits I've frequented the last few years.

I used to disagree with this, but I’ve come around to think that you’re spot on.

There have been some blemishes, of course, but for the most part this place is pretty fair by message board standards.

Two, you’re currently posting on an echo chamber

Ehh most subreddits ban or shadowban anyone who dissents from whatever their popular opinion is. We don’t have giant disclaimers by mods at the beginning of every thread here.

Oweo can still post here for god’s sake

TD isn't close to Reddit when it comes to stifling dissent.

You literally aren't allowed to post dissenting opinions on many sites there.

The reddit experience is up to the individual. Once you filter your subs, it will be a reflection of what you want it to be.

Reddit is extremely anti Tankie so it's alright in my book

Also you’re auto-banned for posting in the wrong subreddit.

When I first joined Reddit, it was the tail end of the salad days. When Trump got elected, Reddit was ground zero for the overcorrection. Now it's just for the porn. It's a nasty, hate-filled hive mind.

They also ban you from subreddits for posts you’ve made on other subreddits

I got banned from r/nfl for posting on r/shitpoliticssays

DavidTheGnome enjoys plagiarizing Reddit material as his own material on TD.

It used to be better. I was looking at r/AK47 recently. Used to enjoy it. Apparently it's nothing but memes and inside jokes now. "Hey guise I joined teh family did I do good," magazines painted with anime characters, and so on. These people do not deserve a subreddit, much less an AK.

Unless you are looking for specific hobby/interest subreddits not related to a political topic (so not shooting or guns for example) it has been as long as I can remember. And porn, of course.

I don't post or read it because I hate their format but occasionally my husband will share a r/I don't work here lady with me and it is pretty funny.

Obviously he is just there for the nudes and doesn't care about the format.

Yeah, Reddit is a really good source for some product reviews or answers to questions. Some of the gun material is actually pretty good.

But the problem is that for 99% of subs it reflects the leftmost 25% of whatever the topic is. So the Atlanta sub is like the fringe left of Atlanta. Reformed might be the most conservative (not really in a political sense) sub in all of Reddit and it probably represents the most progressive 10% of Reformed Christians.
