"I'm a spy
In the house of love
I know the dream
You're dreaming of
I know the words that you long to hear
I know your deepest darkest fears"

There’s a reason those guys will forever be legends, and you’ll be some guy who felates himself on an internet poliboard, lucky if anyone after your grandchildren remember a thing you’ve done

Legend according to who? Those that identify with their senseless ramblings?
You’re living in an age of unprecedented anonymity, so I don’t blame you for using it to attack others while trying to hide your own deeply rooted insecurities and regret.
My only hope is you get the help you need instead of constantly grasping for superficial gratification in the form of upvotes.

He was shite.
The whole band was shite.
They were also shite individually.

Always seemed like drug induced nonsensical rambling to me but I guess others will call it genius.

But you seem to routinely bring in poliboard nonsense to threads that are pretty much unrelated

I always thought Boris Pasternak’s poem about Sergei Alexandrovich was very simple and not very good.

People are strange when you're a stranger..
Faces look ugly when you're alone.
Women seem wicked, when you're unwanted
Streets are uneven when you're down..

No. He was just a normal dude on drugs writing shitty lyrics. Then he tried to pull the "I'm deep" card and a bunch of dipshits fell for it. Then he ended up fat and died. And that's it
Damn, someone actually went and said it... But yep, that's it!
But I can't recall a good old fashioned poetry read on the OT.
So, here are a few samples of his most successful poetic "genius"
(try not to weep in awe)
1)
I live uptown
I live downtown
I live all around
I had money
I had none
I had money
I had none
But I never been so broke
That I couldn't leave town
2)
Hello, I love you
Won't you tell me your name?
Hello, I love you
Let me jump in your game
Hello, I love you
Won't you tell me your name?
Hello, I love you
Let me jump in your game
3)
You know the day destroys the night
Night divides the day
Tried to run
Tried to hide
Break on through to the other side
Break on through to the other side
Break on through to the other side, yeah
4)
You know that it would be untrue
You know that I would be a liar
If I was to say to you
Girl, we couldn't get much higher
Come on baby, light my fire
Come on baby, light my fire
Try to set the night on fire
5)
Yeah, keep your eyes on the road, your hand upon the wheel
Keep your eyes on the road, your hand upon the wheel
Yeah, we're goin' to the Roadhouse
We're gonna have a real
Good time
Yeah, back at the Roadhouse they got some bungalows
Yeah, back at the Roadhouse they got some bungalows
And that's for the people
Who like to go down slow
Let it roll, baby, roll
Let it roll, baby, roll
Let it roll, baby, roll
Let it roll, all night long
6)
Well, I just got into town about an hour ago
Took a look around, see which way the wind blow
Where the little girls in their Hollywood bungalows
Are you a lucky little lady in the City of Light
Or just another lost angel?
City of Night, City of Night
City of Night, City of Night, woo, c'mon
7)
Yeah! Come on, come on, come on, come on
Now touch me, baby
Can't you see that I am not afraid?
What was that promise that you made?
Why won't you tell me what she said?
What was that promise that you made?
Now, I'm gonna love you
Till the heavens stop the rain
I'm gonna love you
Till the stars fall from the sky for you and I
....jeez.... Fortunately, all it took was Darwin and a bathtub to take him out just in time to be included on that blacklight poster with Jimi and Janis. That's is all that saved him from hanging around long enough for the 60's hype to wear off to be exposed as the fat, stoned, drunken, dribbling idiot that wrote this mindless drivel.

I got something you can grasp right here and use to frick yourself for inserting your unwelcome political shite into yet another thread. Have a great day. Jesus loves you but I think you're a douche.

quote:It's kind of hard to determine because he was in a popular band and had to put out content at a rapid clip. His band needed lyrics. Had he been a traditional poet he probably wouldn't have published most of the stuff he wrote for the Doors. He had his moments and had he published only those moments he would probably be more well regarded as a poet.
Was Jim Morrison actually a good poet?

My reading of his biography 30 years ago left me with the impression that he was an immature self absorbed prick.
Well he was one of the biggest rockstars in the world in his early to mid 20s. It’s hard to blame him.
