He had to be smarter.....why would he go to a liberal outlet like yahoo and make a stance like that.

Drew isnt dumb, he analyzes and dissects defenses for a living; he certainly at the age of 40, has the ability to know what to say and when.

This was all a script to keep the NFL in the convo.

He makes enough money for his own PR.

The apology was not his words.

The original thought is no doubt him.

God fearing Texan words no doubt.

Maybe he doesn’t actually exist at all and this whole concept of Drew Brees is just a creation of the puppet masters?

Seriously, do you know anyone else named Brees? I certainly don’t.

I think Brees did what was the politically expedient move on his end. He said what was in his head and heart the first time around. Also, with the NBC Sports deal set to takeoff after he retires...kinda makes you think he’s looking out for his future income.

I’m not sure, but you got to be pretty dumb to make a 2018 comment after seven days of rioting without being able to defend it

How could he be so blindsided? It’s weird and I have had similar suspicions due to the 180.

You know those odd plays where he telegraphs an interception into the defenders hands? This was one fo those. They don't happen too much, but he totally misread the defense and had an off play.

People will downvote and disagree but the 180 came impeccably fast

I've read on here for years that drew is a lefty. So I'm not sure why people are shocked he bowed to his oppressors.

I think he’s just trying to save face. He has to play with these guys (mostly black) for another season and want to keep that kush NBC job after he retires. On the bright side, this shouldn’t affect the play on the field. MT and AK aren’t gonna start dropping his passes on purpose or something.. that’d mess up their meal ticket too

Brees isn't getting the NBC job, though he's trying to make sure he does. As soon as any network tries to hire him blacks will regurgitate his original comments and demand that any network gives the job to a former black player.

Brees played himself.

He hadn't yet received the memo from the NFL backtracking the on the anthem issue and supporting blm. He was towing the old company line.

He's not some genius, he was a mark to that jeweler who took him for $5MM. The smart move would've been to just relax at home with his cute wife and stupidly named kids instead of being interviewed during a national crisis.

If Brees has his own PR firm like you say, they need to be fired for letting him agree to an interview especially without giving him the current talking points.

Its Jameis' team now. Brees will be heavily targeted by DE's and LB's if they go ahead with the season. Magic 8-ball says season ending injury highly probable, see Alex Smith.

Brees really screwed up and his apology only further incited the other players with its lack of sincerity.

Drew had to blacksplain to Trump it's ok for them to disrespect the flag.

I guess he forgot most people agreed with Trump back then and still agree with Trump now

Dude, reality for this so straight forward and no tinfoil hate needed

1: He said what he thought (and he will not admit it now)

2: The pushback showed mental weakness and he then went into defensive mode to protect the NBC contract

Now his wife throws shite out to protect her image and also help protect the husbands contract.

Why the hell would anyone put in danger a multi-year contract post NFL days? It's incredibly rare anyone has a contract like that waiting for them after their NFL days are done. Not even Manning had it (either of them).

Man some of you have had your brains completely broken by this.

No way his initial comments were scripted. He answered a question honestly and his comments really should
Not be very controversial at all.

Now the apologies may have been written by a PR person. Maybe maybe not with the nfl.
