I think in North Gulfport on US 49 there are 2 Walgreens on different sides of the road.
There are. One used to be a Riteaid
Makes absolutely no sense to have both locations up and running

Out of all the crap they sell at Walgreens, that's three randomly specific things to put in your article to illustrate a point.

We can’t lower our prices on our over priced generic medicines and medical tape.
Price buster, go to Walmart instead a dollar or 2 cheaper for the Equate brand.

Not available in Texas for my prescriptions. I can have them called in the next month to a new pharmacy but then they have to jump through all the hoops with the state and insurance company regarding quantity and timing. The controls in place for many prescriptions in Texas are tight for good reason but it’s not easy to switch pharmacies.

It is really not. Just go to an independent, tell them you want your scripts transferred and they will be happy to call walgreens and move all your stuff over. Of course if you have controlled substances, you will just have to ask your doc next time to send it to the new place
My insurance doesn't cover my meds unless I get them from CVS or Mail Order. I could go indy, but then I'm paying it all out of pocket.

The one we use isn't underperforming for lack of business by any standard. They are, almost certainly, underperforming due to piss poor management.
I tend to find most CVS's run a bit better than Walgreens. Obviously that's not a end all be all statement, just somethign i've noticed at the few i've been to.
and what the hell is Walgreens selling that they need to compete with McDonalds? Target I get, but McDonalds?

Too many stores, not enough employees, not enough competent management, and rising prices.

I bet the ones in Cali with people walking out with inventory without paying are high on that list.

There are three Walgreens in New Iberia.
The one coming into town on Hwy 182 is always dead.
No way they'll close the other two.
The one in the center of town on Lewis/Admiral Doyle is huge.
The one on Parkview & Lewis gets a lot of business. It's in a great location.

My wife sent me to get one of her prescriptions and I walked up to a closed pharmacy with that sign up about the lunch break. LOL
No serious place should be doing that.

It's because they don't want to pay for a second pharmacist.

Wasn't Walgreens one of the stores that wouldn't issue ivermectin prescriptions because they decided they know better than doctors?

PBMs are as much the cause as anything else. Unless the fedgov steps in at some point CVS will be the only one left in the end due to their parent company owning them, CVS Caremark, and Aetna.
I don’t think people realize how massive CVS has become behind the scenes
