Nope...I went to the greatest law school in Louisiana....LSU. (Tulane sucks.) Sorry to disappoint.

This would never happen in Japan

I can give a little context:
In a past life I was Operations Manager at a Walmart Supercenter ( miss the pay, dont miss the hours), but the company is very strict and very clear about employees doing ANY work off the clock. They arent even supposed to pick something up off the ground without adjusting their time later to account for it.
Employees are made to take quarterly computer classes on Time Theft and working off the clock and it's really hammered home.
In my store I encouraged associates to not clock out until their vest is off and in their locker. What this person should have done was just say "Im off the clock and cant clean it up but will pass the message along to someone that is", and even then, technically that associate would be required to adjust their time clock on the computer for doing that.
On the other hand, 80% of the people that work for that company are completely retarded, lazy and entitled. Im including regular associates, managers, market, regional, and corporate.
Im here to answer any of your Walmart questions.

No you weren’t. You were either trying to:
1: be an a-hole
2. Witness an accident so you could ambulance chase Walmart
Well...first of all...if I was a witness, I couldn't really represent the injured party due to the witness/advocate rule. I'd be conflicted. (This is probably over your head.) Secondly, all I did was tell somebody there was a spill...which I hope even your stupid arse would do. I don't know man. You are trying way too hard to be adversarial and funny....and you are failing. Just move along...seriously. nobody will remember this in the morning.

I understand other people have eyes as well. They’ll handle it or they won’t, not my problem if I’m walking out the door.
But I’m not trying to be a whiny pussy all the time

LOL, channeling their inner Linda Evangelista I can hear my associates saying they wouldn't get out of bed for less than $700 an hour. Then again, they don't defend S&Fs.

You’re a real attorney, he doesn’t understand

Thank you EastWest. My thought was that even if off the clock, she owes a duty to her employer to warn of dangers that she sees at the store. And..if in "work vest" even more so. I hope nobody got hurt....but you know how the law is...if the employer knows about it...and fails to remedy it....they are liable. Period. Agreed...proper response was "Im off the clock, but I will tell team nember "a". And then stand over the spill and warn people coming about it until the cleaning crew can get there with cones and mops and everything else. Per my last deposition, Wal-Mart policy is "Never leave a spill unattended". It is common sense......

Can’t believe I’ve read this shitshow of a thread and some of you nimrods can’t acknowledge that the stupid arse off the clock worker could have just yelled over to a coworker that there was a spill.
She should care enough just to make that tiny effort.

LOL....in California, they've broken the 1k and hour mark. I find that disgusting frankly...but hey...first rule of economics....charge what the market will bear.

Someone had already noticed it. The off the clock Walmart employee has no duty here.
The random schlub you mentioned already seeing is going to clean it up.

yeah I mean, associates can get in trouble for "working off the clock" , and as I said its very often brought up as a huge no no. But in reality, just telling the customer ok and then just saying something on the way out to another employee is what I would have done. This employee is probably one of the many shitty ones.
also I want to say, I did manage many great blue collar folks there, that worked super hard and did great work. Everyone focuses on the "shitty walmart workers" and it's certainly true, but I managed and worked with some great dedicated people over the years.

Um....no....I told her in real time
Literally seconds after it happened. Nobody noticed anything. The individual wasn't about to clean it up. He had nothing to clean it up with. Seriously, as the previous poster said.. just tell somebody about it to fix the problem. It isn't difficult or complicated.

Ok...fair enough
As many herniated disc's as I've dealt with due to liquid on the floor...but that's nothing. Hope you don't encounter it. Couldn't ever happen to you. I could give a shite. A site like this where there are a bunch of contrarians to logic. Keep going. I'm out. Dumbasses.
