Makes me want to start cutting myself thinking about it.

Bert’s chili baby. Love that stuff.
It is a requirement to get on the hashbrowns.

“Back in my day” Waffle House was a go-to place for the drunken meal. I crushed many a Patty Melt. This was the mid 90’s.
Same for me. Nothing better than scattered, smothered and covered hash browns (with chili) when you're drunk or have the munchies.
Nowadays Waffle House is too ghetto. You'll get shot or mugged if you go in there now. Back in the day, it was just drunk people.

The Hummingbird Grill
I had 3 places I'd frequent depending on where I was in N.O.
The Hummingbird Grill, Camelia Grill and Richard's in Gentilly.
Where me and some of my former teammates would wind up depended on where in town we were throwing darts on league night.
Those late night "Half a bird" eats at the Hummingbird were a must. Omelets were pretty much the thing to get at Camelia Grill and at Richard's, it was whatever you felt like at the time.
The liquor store next to Richard's would get some of our business as if we didn't already have enough to drink.

That and the fact most of them are not working, broke and still living at home sucking the "Parental Tit" dry for as long as they can.
