I remember my teaching days at a mostly black school. I was more naive then and believed in more of the kumbaya.
Then one day I had assigned group work and found one of my best students in the corner crying softly at her desk. She was smart, she cared, she wanted to learn, just a great kid.
I asked her what was wrong, and she told me that the other kids were bullying her her for "acting white" because she tried hard and wanted to learn and didn't act like an ignorant thug.
Truly despicable the mind set of some of these...ghetto garbage.
