Volvo owners...questions about service.

When going through the online build tool I see both "Prepaid Maintenance Plans" and "Volvo Service Contracts" in the options pane. I take that to mean there are no free oil changes for X miles like some other brands, so how do they get you into the dealership...tie it to the warranty or something? Strange bringing a brand new car to an Indy, but hey it's just fluid changes.
Pretty cool you can buy a car online now, but damn do I have a ton of questions now that it's done. No mention of TTL.

I love German cars, but we didn't want two BMWs and the Audi+Merc offerings just don't seem as cool.
I get the BMW, so I get a German car...

I'm tempted to get my next work vehicle through Volvo's European Delivery program.
Please let us know, if you go through the entire process of buying online, how it works for you.
And the particulars as to factory maintenance.

Will do. Bought it online last night, we'll see WTF happens now.

Be prepared for lots of service. At the time, my Volvo was the most expensive car I had ever purchased. And by far it was the worst car I ever owned. Broke down a couple times in the first year alone - once on the night before we were supposed to leave for Disney World.

Silver XC60 T5 Inscription, with none of the trick options (like a $3k stereo upgrade, $3k seat upgrade, $3k safety/avoidance package, or $4k air ride)...still though it seems nicely equipped at this level.
This is the T8, not available here, but it's the same without charging door on the fender.

We have a '12 S60R and it has the free oil changes an other things but I don't remember how it was set up. We purchased ours in Shreveport and as a dealer they are meh.
I will say this about this one, it has had some electrical gremlins since day 1 and I think they are now straightened out. It will be out of warranty this year so I don't know what we will do if any of the problems pop up again. Most of our problems were associated with the keyless entry and the door handles, it has the "soft touch" where when the key is in your pocket all you have to do is touch the handle and it will either lock or unlock the door. This is our 3rd one to have and the others have been trouble free.
Ours is the 325hp model with all wheel drive and runs fairly decent. We have been real happy with the performance and capabilities of the car.

They went to a scalable architecture that hopefully irons some of this out. The same engines and drive trains have been available on the XC90 for a couple of years, and the interior is much like the 70 series...so hopefully it doesn't have any new car bugs.

Thanks, that's exactly the model & trim level I'm looking at. I'll probably do the avoidance package and AWD.
I'm still about a year out from retiring the present vehicle, if I do that factory pickup I'll order in Feb of '18 and then drive it around some in Europe next Spring.
Keep us posted: good, bad or indifferent.

Nothing wrong with that. Just wanted some variety?

Not sure of the current offering but when I bought a Volvo it came with three years oil changes included.

They are all AWD, and it comes with lane tracking, or front end collision avoidance, standard. The upgraded package does the predictive cruise and all sorts of stuff for blind spots and people detection and fast approaching vehicle identification. Seemed really cool.
We didn't buy all of that stuff on her 5 series and she managed just fine without heads up display and all.

I really think "The Ultimate Driving Experience" just got tiring for her. im not really sure she ever liked the whole hydraulic steering, manual transmission, and tight chassis setup of the BMW. I bought the car for me, she just got to drive it for 5 years.

Sounds like it would take forever to get your car. My wife woul LOVE that though. I'll see what the concierge says when they contact us to verify the purchase.

That car was a lemon.
