Oh, sorry, I suppose you didn't say it exactly. You just agreed with the guy that said it, and "good luck getting a job with either company with a degree from a state school", or there about.
Either way, you're wrong.

I work on campus at ULL and have not seen mold inside of any of the buildings much less all of them. Building are old though. I am a LSU fan, fwiw.

Probably neither, since the LSU grad would be competing against graduates from much better schools.
Moron.
Stupid hypotheticals like that do nothing to further the argument, because A) you can't prove it, and B) it ignores everything except the school where the degree came from.

Bull shite, I was one of those LSU grads seeking employment.
You butt hurt over the UL-L-Carencro comment? A regional at best school.

Oh, so that was a real scenario?
What else was at play here? Did no one else apply?
And I don't give a shite what anyone calls ULL. I just find that story hard to believe without more details.

There were several that applied at each city.
One was a UL-L grad, same degree. Unfortunately, the UL-L grad was not given much credit, mainly because they'd never heard of the school.
The name of the school is obviously important when seeking employment on a national basis, maybe not so much on a State basis.

You know this for a fact? Or just speculating because it was ULL?
Must not have been Goldman Sachs or any company of that caliber according to this board.

As someone who grew up out-of-state before attending LSU and now lives in a major city outside of Louisiana, everyone I've come in contact with knows about LSU. It's actually a great conversation starter.
LSU's brand recognition far surpasses ULL. I didn't even know ULL existed before I moved to Baton Rouge and not many people outside of the state know anything about it outside of their schools possibly playing ULL as a rent-a-win in football.
LSU still needs to make strides in academics and its reputation outside of athletics, but the majority of my friends who graduated there are doing exceedingly well so far in their careers and it's never inhibited us from landing top jobs with major corporations. In fact, it actually helped me personally with brand recognition. I also know LSU grads who have gone to grad school at Harvard, Columbia, Johns Hopkins, etc.
That said, at the end of the day, it's all about the individual and not where he/she went to college. I've interviewed SEC candidates and Ivy league candidates in the past and some of the SEC graduates blew the Ivy League grads out of the water.

Precisely the point I've been trying to make all along.
The degree is not the most important thing. People who think the degree is everything are just kidding themselves.
I'm sure Count is just trying to sell an argument. There has to be more to the story than "I had a degree from LSU, this guy had a degree from ULL, other people with degrees applied, I got the job". They didn't recognize any of those other schools?
No doubt LSU has name recognition, but if you only hire someone because you recognize the name of the school, what kind of manager are you? You'd look like this guy:

Still think you're leaving something out, but whatever.
If all it came down to was name recognition of the school you went to, then I'm left to believd 1 of 2 conclusions:
1) It wasn't that great of a job.
2) LSU was the best school they saw on an application, which means it wasn't that great of a job.
Either you're selling yourself short for argument's sake, or it's not that great of a job. I seriously doubt you got a job in a major city like those solely because of a degree from LSU.

You actually had to pay for your college education?

My friend goes to UL and we are both majoring in electrical engineering. He is in his fourth semester and he has said that the stuff I am doing in my first semester at LSU is what they just did (in his third semester).
This seems unlikely unless your friend spent his first two semesters failing classes. Here is semester 1 at LSU in Electrical engineering:
Both school's EE programs are ABET accredited, they are gong to be very similar in course requirements to meet the standards needed for accreditation.

9 Pages and not a single mention of Southern when talking about prestige?

Go to LSU and pay twice as much for a degree that holds the same weight as one from UL.
The only people that believe that are the ones with degrees from ULL. There is nothing wrong with a ULL degree, but ULL is not an R1 institution. ULL is not in the same league as LSU and that is OK.

Precisely, which is why the schtick of “we do 3rd semester ULL stuff in the first semester at LSU” is transparently a load of bunk.

Say what you want, but face it, unless you are applying in state for a job, a degree from LSU goes a lot further than a degree from UL-L-Erath.

Academically, yeah it is. At least in the engineering college. They're both abet certified making them essentially equivalent for quality of education/learning that is available. It's the actual student that makes the degree/education what it is though. Our best interns here have come from ULL as oppose to LSU, whether that's a random anomaly or whatever it is....it doesn't mean that ULL is better... we've just had better people from there. On the average, the best students from either school are going to be essentially the same. If we're talking athletics....then hands down it's LSU.
