I feel like the very fact that we are here is evidence of a divine creator. What you want is proof.

Our existing says nothing about a divine creator or not.

It just means we're here and advanced enough now to study how our own parts work.

LOL what? Yes... yes it does

Do you understand the multitude of things that need to work in unison for life to exist? If one of those were off by a mere decimal point, life wouldn't exist. What about the laws of nature? Who created those? WHY do they work so perfectly together? Even leave the religious part out, there's sooooo much evidence for creator.

Because the Bible told us so is not legitimate.

We've also sprung up from blood of dead gods.

Shaped from mud by Prometheus.

A brother hitting his sister with fish.

Etc etc.

Why limit yourself to the imagination of people long dead with little understanding of the larger world?

Put me in the camp of not believing all of this, us being here, is a coincidence

Is the Big Bang real? Maybe so

Did God cause it? Maybe so

Crazy that this religion thread hasn't been anchored, yet. This has to be some kind of record.

All this shows is that humanity, from its earliest history, has believed it was created by something greater than itself.

The existence of the universe is one thing. Some all powerful being pulling the strings of every human throughout history and requiring us to constantly tell him how great he is another thing completely. If you were to tell me that whatever created the big bang and the universe is god, I would probably accept that interpretation. The latter is where things fail to pass the smell test for me.

As for the existence of life? That's a mere numbers game. Multiply the number of galaxies by the number of stars in them by the number of planets and it's a virtual certainty that we're far from the only life to exist or have existed.

That's certainly a large part of my interpenetration. But I also believe the creator to be benevolent.

As a concept, taken literally, I find it bordering on laughable.

I'm on mobile so I can't post it but I'm picturing that meme of Jesus looking down on his amazing creation in the universe. The size, spectre, genius, and beauty of it all... with the words "don't masturbate".

So...life exists in a universe in which life can exist? Are you suggesting that is is another possibility that we could exist and know about? Of course we live in a universe in which everything seems "fine tuned." We literally could not live in a universe we could not live in.

That being said, while the physics work for life to exist, you clearly have no understanding of just how little of the universe we could possibly live in. For that matter, how little of our own planet we can live on. For a universe built for us, we sure can't seem to use much of it.

Why would someone have had to create them? And if we're going to go down the road of "all things have a creator" then who created him? Or are we just going to go with special pleading at this point and claim magic powers that exclude him from your own rule?

See, if you're going to claim magic at any point, stop trying to suggest there are scientific reasons for belief.

Well if you read the Bible, in John it states that Satan is in control of the earth. So people attributing bad things to God/ a god letting them happen could be rebuked with that

Then the atheist could say “well then how are miracles on Earth performed?”

And you could go round and round

But a believer could say “so you really believe that all matter in the universe was contained inside a ball the size of a soccer ball?”

And again you could go round and round

Right...back before we had actual evidence for why things happened we made up stories to explain things. We no longer need them.

Back before we understood germ theory, we believed magical agents were at work killing people.

It has its uses but again, they couldn't even imagine how much more beautiful it actually is.

They couldn't look at their own DNA and see how it works. Hell we misnamed Junk DNA back in the 70s and are still catching up on studying it after largely pushing it to the wayside.
