Entrepreneur Sir Richard Branson has said that Virgin Galactic is "weeks" away from its first trip into space.

"We should be in space within weeks, not months. And then we will be in space with myself in months and not years," the firm's founder and chief executive told news website CNBC.

He said the firm would be taking people into space "not too long after" that.
Sir Richard is in a race with Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos to send the first fee-paying passengers into space.

I just don't understand how this will be much cooler than an airplane when I can't even get out. No thanks.

Going to be really surprised when they get up there and find out space is flat.

I do applaud this guy's drive and his ability to hire technical experts...however, to me, he is just basically another blowhard like Elon Musk.

The idea is that you'd fly from New York to London in 90 minutes instead of 10 hours.

It takes 5 hours to fly from New York to London, not 10.

Branson must have not played Kerbal Space Program...

He would have figured out there's a more efficient way to launch into space vs. that airplane.

You’re focusing on the wrong number in that statement. 90 minutes is the important one.

Jokes on them. They are going to run into the dome over our flat Earth when they try to go up there.
