in reality it was probably much worse than what was even reported as it was in fact already being manipulated,

Oh so now they were manipulating during the spike

At least you're consistent (just not logical)

I said the exact thing at the beginning of the discussion. Explain how the narrative changed?

They're either manipulating the sata or they're not. Make a choice.

As I've already said it has always been inherently subject to human manipulation.
You're trying to *WIN* but you're being an idiot with your trap attempts

What's sad is that people on here have bitched about high crime rate for year, but they get pissed when it comes down during a Democrat's tenure

Libs confuse the reporting of crime with actual crime.

The right cares about actual crime. They don’t feel better by the manipulation of data.

The left on the other hand only cares about the label. Crime itself isn’t important b

But why would they ever manipulate it to increase crime?

Memphis must not have been included in that study

Actually you are correct! Also missing from this years FBI stats are Chicago, New York, New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Los Angeles, Miami, Baltimore, Philadelphia, Atlanta, San Fran, Newark, Birmingham, Houston, etc..

Approximately 30% of the US did not provide crime states to the FBI in 2023/2024

I'll ask a simple question: why is it so difficult to accept that violent crime is going down?

Do you have personal experience in all of the cities for which I've posted data? Any of them?

because that's not the observation.
What if you didn't have data? What would you think of the rate of violent crime over recent years? Would you be capable of having a notion on it?

It's true, but somewhat irrelevant.

I posted on this subject a few times. I’m in the public safety software business.

The FBI switched from UCR summary to NIBRS reporting back in 2021. NIBRS is a more compressive data collection method. It’s much harder to implement at larger agencies because the error rate is far greater. To get certification an agency has to submit 3 consecutive months with an error rate of 3% or less.

New Orleans, NYC and LA are some examples of large cities that are not reporting the NIBRS data set.

The FBI has been doing data modeling to fill in the missing data gaps for these large agencies. Their algorithms take historical trends and comes up with a crime data set. Many folks inside the industry are critical of the modeling because it’s almost impossible to model crime in a way that is consistent with actual reporting.

I don’t doubt for a solitary second the FBI is manipulating stats to feed a narrative. You won’t see any MSM reporting on this for obvious reasons.

Yeah, this is totally believable. We have people from Central America, South America and other locations (with little education or job training) setting up shop in the U.S. ...

Financial struggles and increasing credit card debt for many people -- who would be looking for a quick buck to help resolve the issue....

And crime supposedly went DOWN under those conditions.

Participation in the FBI's Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) program is completely voluntary and starting in 2021, 37% of police departments stopped reporting crime data to the FBI, including Chicago, Los Angeles, and New York.

Other than baton rouge I bet the vast majority of the other cities that you listed are experiencing a similar trend of decreasing violent crime

Why do you think so many people here think it's going up?

Is it media manipulation for political purposes? Because that would be, like, a conspiracy theory.
