Vietnamese girlfriend - cat’s umbilical cord - luck - red flag?

My Vietnamese girlfriend, pics available to premium subscribers only 5’ 0” 91lbs; had a cat a few years ago that gave birth in the gf’s house. The cat did not consume a small portion of the umbilical cord as a gesture to the owner (my girlfriend). And this remnant of cord is considered a good luck charm.
She gave the dried up good luck charm to her cousin. The cousin went gambling and claimed that he lost money, and promptly threw the cat cord away. She thinks he won money and has been riding this wave of cat luck for many years. She is not consumed by this theory. It was just a footnote to a recent visit by the cousin.
Should I be concerned?

Vietnamese people have strange beliefs. Vietnamese guy I worked with had this extra long eyebrow hair, I mean long, like 5 inches. I told him to hold still, and pulled it out. He was pissed, he said it was good luck to have that hair….
