Video of soil movingtaken from satellite.
Huge area slumped, roads stretched, houses collapsed, and a hillside collapsed and buried thousands.

Soil liquefaction is some damn scary shite. Never seen it demonstrated quite so dramatically.

liquefaction can cause odd effects.

But given the source, the appearance, and technical limitations.....I'm almost positive they took a before and after picture and digitally "simulated" it.

In fact, re watching the video, I am positive of it. I am sorry, things like roads won't slowly and evenly fade to brown as they are being stretched.

What’s so scary about that is that if you were in the path of that, there would be little to nothing that you could do or try to escape that

agreed...I think the movement is certainly possible, but the way everything just suddenly fades to brown has me a little skeptical.

I think the fade to brown is the collapse of the hillside to the right center.

There are lobes of movement and I wish there were a clock attached to this video.

The other thing that 'gets' me is the ?road that runs along the right hand side of the video. Whatever it is, it seems to have acted as a dam to movement.

I've seen pictures of landslides before, the Hebgen slide that affected a corner of Yellowstone but that was 'dry' soils.
The recent one out in the PNW, the toe of a slide was the weak point (likewise the Pacific Hwy south of San Francisco). And I saw the multiple slides in Virginia after Camille. But this scale of liquifaction dwarfs them.

Quick clay changes from a solid to a liquid if it is disturbed and has a low salt content. Be careful when you dig baw:
