My guess is that they don't want to rock the boat too much and lose their job.
That woman ought to have an attorney today. That was bullshite.
I am very pro cop, but every time they are bullying someone the go to "stop resisting". Makes all cops look bad.

A+ in the state that was like 46th out of the nation which is probably 20th in the world. So it's not really a great accomplishment....show me some statistics comparing them to the rest of the country.
I don't have statistics, but just trust me here. It's a great parish for learning. The accents won't make you believe it, though

They funded by Iberia but half their population is Vermilion it is a weird situation for them and funding.

Wonder how his contract compares to superintendents in similarly populated parishes. That's where her focus should have been instead of class size.
Good question. It's probably similar to the ones in Lafayette and Iberia if I had to guess. Jerome is a nice guy from all of my encounters. I do know there is a major divide on the school board panel and the entire parish is split into two divisions.

Not when the teachers, aka the ones who actually do the work to raise the test scores, haven't gotten a raise in years.

And I'm not even attempting to belittle that....but I don't think it justifies nothing for the teachers who actually got the schools there and a fat arse raise for the supa.

The back story we're not seeing is probably years of budget cuts, little to no new materials for the classes, cuts in teacher positions...I guess we're just seeing the frustration and instead of allowing her to vent they chose to shut her up by pressing their authority all around from the chair person on down to the cop.

Since you bring that up...I notice there's been a push in some schools lately to simply just raise the test scores. They have before and after school "tutoring" where they just work on taking the tests. To some degree that's important, but does anyone see the actual problem with that? If the kids are just becoming better test takers and not actually improving their knowledge/intelligence...then these scores are a false representation of the populace. Really effd up if the superintendent has been pushing just that and now gets a raise for it, using the teachers to push the scores up, and only the scores...not the actual education.

Yep. It's like memorizing the multiplication tables but not knowing it. It's basically a cram session and does no good other than making the Parish look like they are improving.

All the while the Superintendent is giving himself a raise. This vid is going somewhat viral. If he’s not a total scumbag, like the video portrays him, he won’t take the raise.

All the women are mad because the school system got a bump up in ratings and the superintendent "makes them work". Not kidding, I know teachers at multiple schools and since he took over the whining is nonstop. For fun they ought to ask the teachers if they are so poor where are they sending their kids? Here's a hint: it costs money and it ain't a public school.
The Kaplan contingent, in particular, has cornered the market in ignorance and unruliness.
That’s a ridiculous point to try to make that teachers are paid well because they send their children to private schools.
1) my family was poor when I was in elementary but my parents knew public schooling wasn’t an option in New Orleans. We ate cheap, and bought very cheap clothes. Priorities.
2) they’re teachers. If you were a teacher, I think you would send your child to the school you were at as well.
