being concerned about your kids and tracking everywhere they go are two entirely different things

he can't trust his son for whatever reason. Sounds like he didn't do a very good job raising him if he can't be trusted when he is basically an adult

tracking your kids' every move is nuts

Who said he can't trust him? Maybe the OP actually is overly cautious.

Either way, by asking about a tracking device is no way to determine if someone is a terrible parent or not.

This is typical OT blowing stuff out of proportion stuff.

the real problem is parents like you who are shitty lazy parents

So you're for this guy actually following his kid vs a tracking device? Tracking his kid is great parenting....gets the kid used to being tracked before the NSA starts.

Pretty ridiculous thing to do IMO. He's 17, not 7.

I used to be a sales rep for spireon. We sold devices to companies with large fleets and also to the buy here pay here dealerships. The stories I heard from owners were classic. The roi is very good, especially the buy here pay here industry. You basically hook it up to the constant wire source behind the cluster of the vehicle and secure it to metal. Hide it behind the cluster and there you go. Most companies have a platform using Microsoft bing so you can monitor movement. You can even set up boundaries and if the vehicle enters/exits that boundary you can get email and text alerts.

I had an owner that put one on his wife's car bc he had a suspicion she was cheating on him and sure enough, we put a boundary around the guys house and she was pegged there 8 times in 3 days.

I always pulled mine on the company truck I had. They would call a few days later and tell me to plug it back in.

Another good story was a driver for a cement company didn't realize we hooked up the devices to monitor when and for how long they would dump cement on job sites. Let's just say he stole about 20k in cement, doing jobs on the side and pocketing the money. He was ultimately arrested.

My daughter was caught speeding and we put a device that plugs into the portal under the steering wheel. Got it from MOTO Safety. Works fairly well from computer, smartphone, or tablet. Best Value I could find.

I am a parent of two grown children. YOU are not ready for your son to drive. He's ready but you're not quite there yet. The tracking device for that application is a bad idea.

The plug in ones are ok, the ones you want are the devices you tap into the car wires so you can hide them. They will never know it's there

Look into the spireon talon. You can literally fit it in your wallet it's so small

We have those for our vehicles at work and it is a great tool. However, don't recommend for family.

Do that more than 2 times here where I work and you are fired.

Also get a nice slap on the wrist for breaking 80 mph for over a minute.

That's why I drive my own truck and get truck pay.
