Nice work, as usual.

What’s the armament on that guy?

Edit to add: should have read the thread before I asked.

Is that main gun a 40?

The Brit’s during WWII categorized their cannon not by bore size but rather the weight of the projectile. The Valentine had a “two pounder” main gun, or as we’d call it, a 40mm. It was effective against Pzkpfw. I & II. It struggled against Pzkpfw III & IVs though. That’s why the Brits introduced the “six pounder”, which was what we’d call 57mm.

As for the Germans, they used the following main guns in 1941:

Pzkpfw I: Two MG13 machine guns.
Pzkpfw II: 2cm cannon
Pzkpfw III: 3.7cm & later 5.0cm cannon
Pzkpfw IV: 7.5cm cannon (low velocity)

In 1941, the Pzkpfw III was primarily tasked with engaging enemy armor while the IV was tasked with infantry support. This is way the the III had a high velocity cannon, to engage armor, while the IV’s low velocity gun was better suited for engaging enemy fortifications.

Once the Germans realized the Pzkpfw III, even after being up-gunned to 5.0cm, struggled against newer Allied tanks like the T-34, Matilda, and Sherman, that’s when they up-gunned the Pzkpfw IV to a long barreled, high velocity 7.5cm gun.

I was of the understanding that while the Pzkpfw utilized two mg13, the Pzkpfw 1b replaced one of those mg 13s with a 20mm (2cm) as the main gun.

I don’t think they ever put a 2cm on the Pzkpfw I. They did however convert some to the Panzerjäger I.

I’m about to try scale models for the first time since I was a child. Been watching a lot of videos. I bought a set of artist paints and was planning on mixing and thinning as needed to create specific colors but now I’m wondering if I should’ve just bought specific military style paints.

You are an inspiration for those who are wary or cannot afford an airbrush!

Nicely done, as always. Hard to believe that anything British would be reliable.

Most kits will tell you what paints you’ll need. I rarely ever mix paints.
