Researchers have documented a drop in child vaccination rates in Michigan since restrictions were imposed to slow the spread of the novel coronavirus, raising concern about outbreaks of other diseases such as measles, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said in a report on Monday.

The findings by the CDC researchers indicated that stay-at-home orders during the pandemic like those imposed in Michigan and other U.S. states may be reducing accessibility to routine immunization services and exposing children to risks from vaccine-preventable diseases.

Data from Michigan's state immunization information system showed that just under half of 5-month-old infants were up to date for all recommended vaccines this month, compared to approximately two thirds of infants in May of the previous four years, the CDC researchers said in their report.

In addition to a decline in up-to-date status in almost all age groups, the number of non-influenza vaccine doses given to children under age 24 months dropped more than 15% from January through April of this year compared to the same period the previous two years, the researchers found.

Hope you sleep well tonight Madam Governor Whitmer.

This is stupid. How are people getting measles if they are forced to be inside. fricking madness. We should be more worried about the damn teleportation of the measles virus if this is the case.

Who cares. Kids are strong and their bodies are well adapted to handle the measles with ease. My kid eats dirt anyway so she's immune.

What do other states look like right now? Similar drop, or is Half Whitmer keeping babies from being vaccinated?

(If it's the latter XiNN will do a reality check on the dangers of the new and untested measles vaccine.)

Isn't she the one who banned the sale of seeds and car seats?

Not explicitly, but essentially shut off stores for things other than food.

As you're a pediatrician I admire you for not showing weakness. The measles are pretty much like eczema. Send them little shits home with a cold pack and a lolli.

Funny how a lot of measles outbreaks happen in highly vaccinated groups. Sounds like how "flu like symptoms" are more prevalent where there are a lot of flu shots given.

I got the 7 day measles and the 3 day measles (rubella or german measles) when I was a kid in the 60's. Still here....
