Schools also have to follow rules like the Constitution, which protects freedom of expression.

Guess we should allow students to express their second amendment rights too

From reading, they are not specifically targeting the American flag. They are targeting the size

Slippery slope and ambiguous at the hand of the one enforcing something like this. If his flags were an inch smaller would that be okay?

Good chance someone like you stayed seated during pledge. I mean, man the pledge gives shades of Nazi Germany, right!?

I am not even going to attempt to have a discussion/debate with you. You're just being silly or ignorant at this point. Have a nice day
What?

You say school policy can take away a students right to have an American flag shirt, so it’s natural to ask why can’t school policy can’t dictate it elsewhere

I just want one person to answer

If the school hates the American flag and think it stands for white supremacy, why are they flying it throughout the school?

1. The school had zero issue with him displaying an American flag on his vehicle. Why are y’all trying make this about the American flag and the school hating the American flag? Bedford County is DEEP RED. 73% voted for trump in 2020

Clearly they did. They revoked the student’s parking pass for having a large American flag in the bed of his truck.

2. Would it be a constitutional right for him to ferry a flag with him around school if he wanted to? Are you sure that’s a constitutional right you can never be told in a school setting to not have the flag?

That’s not what we’re dealing with here, the flag is in the parking lot. But in any event, he likely would have the right to drape himself in an American flag inside the schoolhouse doors.

So what if there is a policy about not flying flags or banners on your car while in the parking lot?

Another dumb question. That would be like the school saying you can only have xyz tires on your personal vehicle. Or you can only drive xyz vehicles. They can determine what you wear and do inside the school... not with or on your personal property.

Absolutely. Stay seated everyone morning in my classroom. Encourage students to do the same. Even told my Marines not to.

Ill let a lawyer chime in, but my opinion is that he isn’t protected here

Nothing screams American pride by flying them on a Japanese truck.

The sad thing is that Toyota probably has more US made parts on it than Ford, Chevy, and Ram.

quote:

In addition to the Toyota plant, the 2,000-acre property is home to multiple suppliers who build components of the Tundra. Other suppliers build components nearby.

Between Toyota and its suppliers, Tundra production provides a lot of jobs for U.S. workers. The Center for Automotive Research estimates that Tundra production supports 50,000 jobs in Texas. You could say one in every 200 Texas workers have a job thanks to the Tundra.

Toyota takes a lot of pride in its Texas connection. The ranch where its San Antonio plant is located was founded in 1794. Toyota named the Tundra 1794 Edition to honor this heritage.

Because so much of the Toyota Tundra component manufacturing and vehicle assembly happens in the United States, it is considered one of the “most” American-made vehicles. The Toyota Tundra earned the #10 spot in the Cars.com American-Made Index. No other full-size pickup truck landed in the “Top 12” list.

Well that would ACTUALLY be a distraction and the school would have an argument here. But a flag on a car in a parking lot? Nah.

Clearly, the school does not like oversized displays of American pride.

Bottomline, you’re wrong here. The school is going to get sued and will have to pay this kid for violating his constitutional rights.

Are your clothes not your personal property?

I know my daughters uniforms are bought by me. I don't think inside the buildings hold any different legal standing to outside in the parking lot.
