A report I heard on the radio said that the kid was being detained by ABC agents, including one officer who was holding the kid's arm. As they were questioning the kid, he tried to pull his arm away from the officer and things escalated.
I think ABC agents are about on par with mall security cops but here you have a kid who was probably drunk and definitely breaking the law and then he physically escalated a confrontation with Law enforcement officers. Play stupid games...

This is what the news is reporting and, unlike when a story is obviously way off one way or the other, sounds like what probably happened.
Here is the thing, while the police have the right to detain and question this guy relative to their investigation (MIP) they don't have the right to use unwarranted force against him. Grabbing him by the arm was unwarranted. It would have pissed me off as well.
Suspecting a crime does not allow them to lay hands on him.
That being said, the prudent thing would have been to just stand there and let him do it but that is neither here nor there.

The involved police are using the standard keywords, placing all blame on the kid. It is classic blue-wall, cya.
The kid is saying he was not drunk, bellicose, and did nothing wrong. Classic criminal with a victim mentality looking for a payout.
The truth is somewhere in between and took the worst arse kicking here.

He is an honors student at UVA. Classic criminal if you are thinking of Bernie Madoff

This does not mean he was not drunk and breaking the law. It does not mean he did not do what the ABC agents said he did.
It also does not mean the agents are not lying too.
Are you thinking this was a white collar incident or did I miss where Bernie Madoff was brawling outside of a bar with state commissioned LEO's? Or is it possible he did not do anything wrong, based on his GPA?

And also, I know plenty of assholes who we're honor grads, UVA isn't as tough academically as led to believe.

ABC at UVA has a bad reputation. A couple of years ago they arrested (rather forcibly so) a sorority chick for MIP and it turned out she just had mineral water and could prove it.

I'm tired of this bull shite. Watch any episode of COPS and the majority of the perps (white, black, latino, etc.) are bloodied due to a fall, escape/bitten by dog or resisting arrest.
Of course the media, like Trayvon Martin's innocent baby picture, will show the bloodied face of the unarmed black UVA honor student. It's getting out of control.

Thats only half the story... She walked out of the grocery store with water jugs, ABC chased after her without identifying themselves. She calls 911 thinking she was being mugged and speeds off. High speed pursuit occurs, and she eventually gets pulled over with guns drawn. In addition, she also got charged with assaulting two police officers.

All you need to be considered guilty for an MIP in Louisiana is to have a red solo cup.

You're talking about Cops, this is ABC.. A little different. One has an even bigger inferiority complex than the other

This is what my first thoughts were. His father didn't have the talk with him.
My problem with the news reports are they pick up in the middle of the incident where the video starts. That is only half of the story.

No reason to rough up anyone on a minor alcohol violation. If they try to run, let them go.

Why is the school even involved with this....the incident took place off campus.
