I hope this isn't a catalyst for other states following suit. It's .08 in Illinois, and I would hate to see it reduced.

It will. In Europe the limit is crazy low. America will follow suit

ETA: Most European countries are .03%-0.05% LINK

I will make it a point to never visit Utah. Not that I plan on drinking and driving but .05 is ridiculous. I might as well move to Saudi Arabia with laws like that.

are the people with .06 alochol levels the ones wrecking into people or are they the ones trying to be responsible by stopping after 1-2 drinks?

According to some on here if you've had a single drop of liquor and get behind the wheel, you are ticking death bomb ready to murder an entire family in cold blood.

Alcohol laws of Utah. ... Current Utah law sets a limit of 3.2 percent alcohol by weight (4 percent by volume) in beer sold at grocery and convenience stores and at establishments operating under a "beer only" type license, such as taverns, beer bars and some restaurants.

Most European countries have a reliable, safe, efficient public transportation too.

Absolutely. Just pointing out how other developed countries are far more strict on drinking and driving than America.

Wouldn't surprise me if they lowered it here. It's a huge racket in Wash and Oregon.

But Thurston said a .05 limit equals the consumption of two-thirds of a bottle of wine, three shots or six beers.

Thurston better check his research because drinking a 6 pack will put you well over .05 and closer to .10 unless it was over a 4-5 hour period.

ETA: Might wanna change thread title...makes it seem as its already changed to .05, but its really just a bill that was proposed.
