Yea they are still working. I have family there.
Tax girl, I myself is a 3rd generation refinery worker. My blessings go out to y'all an y'all families. This country would struggle to produce without the refineries running efficiently.

Any word about Exxon BR still working?
The contract those guys have is good through April. This will work itself out before it gets to them.

I think someone said their contract wasn't up yet. Or something. But it'd be six months before any strikes there

I agree with you on this one! But I think it may depend on the plant as to fatigue , in my opinion I think the usw is trying to get a better understanding from the companies as to the amount of days needed to work before they are fatigued. I could be wrong.

It's posts like this that bring out the hate for plant workers, when you try to elevate your job over any other job out there.

Thank you for to comments! As a 4th generation is this industry and yes I am 43 so this should tell people how far back my family goes and a union baby people do not know the life of plant workers only the products we produce. i.e. diapers ,gas, oil, jet fuel and don't let me forget the red solo cups so many people are drinking out of right now during the Super Bowl brought to you by the men and women who work and have lost there lives to give you such products. Yes are the CEO of the refineries making a ton of money off the backs of "everyone" salaried or union HELL YES. This is why they fight every 3 years! I ask also everyone on this site one question Are you willing to go to work everyday to give America the products needed to live each day when you may not walk out alive? When you can answer yes to this question you are a true refinery worker. As to the other refineries coming up for contract renewals I say this look at the demands now before either sides start negotiations and see what needs to get weeded out on the proposals . Good luck to everyone and god bless!
Wow...What a bunch of non-punctuacted horseshite. You may be out of your gotdamned mind.

But if you hire more people then the workers complain about not getting the OT that is fatiguing them.

It can be a dangerous job on rare occasions but it's not like plant workers are fighting Al Queda at work everyday though many would have you believe that.
The actual fatalities and major accidents that happen vs the amount of people that work in and around refineries every day is a very small percentage.
ETA: The way she worded her statement about "lost their lives" made it sound like the people working in refineries have sacrificed themselves for our benefit and never get to go home or some shite.

Not necessarily Paige. They are all ticking time bombs if not ran efficiently and/or correctly. The operators are the ones who keep them in check from doing such things.

That whole story was hard to read while hummin' America The Beautiful at the same time, but I tried,,,,, then I laughed.
Posted on 2/1/15 at 6:54 pm to Txgrl43
More people are killed on the way to work than at work
Posted on 2/1/15 at 6:54 pm to Paige
No they don't blow up a lot. Most accidents happen because multiple fail safes break. Also preventative maintenance needs to occur sooner.

Is this all you can say is to use our lords name in vain? Which sounds like does not bother you. Are you even one of the union workers on strike or even work in a refinery ?
