It's more about who your mailman or UPS driver is than the service. I've had pretty good experiences with both. I had a lazy arse Fedex driver once though. Stopped using them until I moved. After that no problems.

that is what they code it when they frickup and miss the house, the package is too large to deliver that day based on the worker etc. He said there is no code for "we fricked up" and every package needs a tracking input each day.

This is the most honest answer

They need new fricking codes then because if it is this much of a problem, it doesn’t need to be “hidden” under another code.

hence, fraud

Fraud implies intent. Not giving enough fricks to fix a problem that leads to bad service because you're a government sanctioned quasi monopoly is more incompetence than fraud.

Happens nearly every delivery of our dog food. They just don't want to carry 30 lbs to the front door.

Last week we got back just as the mail lady was making her way back on the opposite side of the street. She saw us pull in the driveway and rolled down her window to tell us she had “fogotten” that we had a package.

Had we not showed up, she was no doubt going to say some bullshite like that. They are awful

Also for some reason FedEx likes to leave boxes in our driveway. Ordered some new furniture last year and I was about to leave to go pick one of the kids up. Glad I glanced at the rear view camera. Big old furniture box out there after I opened the garage door. I get it, the box is heavy and you probably backed down my driveway to unload it. But ring my doorbell and tell me where it is. It was also supposed to, and ended up raining heavily that afternoon. I had no way of knowing it was delivered. Would have been a nice $500 waste if those two boxes were rained on.

USPS: "Delivery attempted - Front door / Driveway was not accessible"

anyone else constantly get this when USPS just doesn't feel like delivering a package? i get it on probably 1/3 of my deliveries these days

got it yesterday when they delivered my normal mail without issue. i guess they didn't sort things out well so the mailman lied when he checked the truck after he got back. that seems to be the similar pattern (works with the timeline, too)

at what point is this fraud?

The Postal Service has taken a massive nose dive where I live here in Baton Rouge since at least 2015. It got so bad here that at one point they were delivering after 7pm on some evenings. We signed up for Informed Delivery a couple of years ago after going days without getting any mail.

About a year ago I watched a mail carrier get out of her vehicle with a package for a neighbor, walk half-way up their sidewalk then lob it the rest of the way onto their porch before turning back to her vehicle.

A few months back I watched a different one spend 2 full minutes maneuver his vehicle around a neighbor's car parked near their mailbox just so he wouldn't have to get out of his mail truck to put mail in their box. Two full minutes (I timed it) on a nice, sunny day to avoid the seven-ish seconds it would have taken to get out and simply place the mail in the box.

On the other hand though, the wife and I were at home the other day when the mail truck pulled up in our driveway. We went outside to find the mail lady unloading boxes to bring to our front door (we met her halfway and took them).

***Full disclosure*** We're the type of couple that always leave cookies and a nice card for the mail carrier at Christmas time.

It’s the same thing as when drive thru windows tell you to move up and wait. they do it to game the system and make it look like they are hitting their numbers

Someone mailed something to us and it was returned saying our office had moved and left no forwarding address

Narrator: the office had not moved.

The best is delivery attempted and they leave the pink slip to sign - when you have a package you need to sign for.

So you sign the pink slip and leave it on your door.

What is SUPPOSED to happen is the postal worker takes the pink slip back to the office. Loads up your package. And delivers it the next day.

What actually happens in New Orleans is your package sits at the post office for all eternity until you come pick it up yourself. Same with UPS and FedEx.

I’ve always wondered if I was an elderly human like how would I get my package if this happened to me.

I’d say this happened to 1/3rd or maybe more of my packages in Baton Rouge

Had a mail carrier would always leave my box open. When it rained my mail would be soaked. I left a note to kindly asked that she close my box. She left a note that read, "I always close it". A lie. I complained to the postmaster but didn't help, he backed her.

I filmed her 5 out of 6 days she left it open, & sent it to my former postmaster uncle. He made a call, they apologized to me, but she continued to leave it open. She got fired.

My uncle told me they don't hire the best & brightest any more. He said the standards were pretty high & had a rigorous interview process back when he was hired.

They just DGAF

I placed an order on Amazon last week. Tracked it to the delivery day. Tracking said it was delivered by USPS. It wasn't. Started a chat with Amazon the next day. Waited 30 minutes for an rep to come on. "John" reminded me of an ISP tech support guy when your internet is down. Do all the shite you've already done before you finally broke down and called. No John, this is a business. It's not on the other side of the house, not at the neighbors either. John couldn't refund me, and wanted me to wait a few more days "to see if it shows up". I told John this wasn't going to cut it, so he asked for my phone number so that his boss could call me. Broken-English Marianne called me and we went thru the same dance. She ended up telling me that if it didn't show up the next day, I should call back and start the process all over again. She said her "system" wouldn't allow a refund because the package was still in the delivery cycle. I pointed out that her "system" says it was already delivered. Made no difference. She said I would have to call back the next day and start the process all over........ over an hour of my time was spent with them trying to rectify this already.

After I hung up, I went to my credit card's website and filed a dispute. The money went straight back to my account, immediately. A couple of days later, I get an email from Amazon concerning the dispute. The email read like they had no idea why I filed the dispute, and their records showed the item was delivered. They wanted a direct reply, so I gave them one. First I pointed out that they obviously do not research an issue BEFORE contacting the customer. Chat records, recorded phone calls, and an email from "Marianne" went over their head.

I never got the "delivered" package, and have not heard back from Amazon. I have no idea how much they lose by replacing and refunding stuff they ship with USPS, but from my experience, it has to be a ton.
