I'm no expert, but there's no way to fix this in a year, though some schools do - it's Louisiana at the end of the day. Not shitting on it, but that state has a way of doing things.
Obviously you can't just start making your median GPA a 3.5/6 for admission overnight, but gradually over the next 2-3 years they should start increasing the caliber of student they make an offer of admission to.
I wonder how the 3+3 students factor into it since they don't take an LSAT.

Definitely. Though if you were top 25% plus something like law review at UGA, you'd do well in the Mid-Atlantic too.
I agree, although Emory has a better network (or traditionally did) up north, so I guess that can help.

The SEC school that I noticed to be a big winner in these rankings is Florida. They jumped up 10 spots. Probably on track to be a T30 school next year

Alabama may be ranked #25, but the law school building is the ugliest on campus.
That's all I got.

Alabama has flown up the rankings, both law and otherwise, because they throw money at top performing students. I'm not sure if that's still the MO but as I recall they'd make really appealing offers to some elite students who may be just beyond the cusp of getting similar offers at Vandy/UVA/etc. Think white kids who aren't getting big scholly money at such places but have great #s. Boosts averages while also giving you good taglines - "11 something something scholars in the 2011 class"
Not sure if LSU has that capability at the moment or not.

Makes no sense that they're not IMO. I'm not sure if that's a ranking thing or an underperforming thing, but UF has no reason not to be a top 25 law school. Florida and Georgia are both states that should be focused on getting to the cusp of the national Michigan/Virginia/Texas level when it comes to public schools. They're both big, in good states, with plenty of money and clout.

The tl;dr from this that I’ve gotten is that white kids with high GPAs and LSATs but got burned from T14 schools because of affirmative action have boosted up Alabama and to an extent Florida because they’re now getting scholarships on merit.

Another thing Florida has going for it is a reputation as a great school in the tax law realm. An LLM in tax law from Florida, NYU, and GULC is considered top tier in the field. I’m not into tax law but almost everyone knows it.

That’s going to sting on his character and fitness evaluation.

I love that Emory dropped, but there isn't a firm or clerkship outside of Alabama that would value Alabama more than Emory.

LSU Law has had to start taking less qualified students because they need the tuition dollars. That's where the drop in the USNWR rankings is coming from
Sure they are the only school in the country that has this problem, so they are being unfairly criticized, right?

Yes, this year at least
Doesn't change the fact I'm 100% correct. I use Alabama because they may be the most stark example of a school playing the rankings.

Really? That’s your argument, GTFO here. I had a job upon graduation and many offers for employment since. Why would I waste my time with a clerkship anywhere? All the while a majority of Tulane, Loyola and LSU grads are drowning in debt.

Yes, and it's been fairly well regarded for quite some time. Not an elite public law school, but near the top for the second tier.
