Using Your Phone For Productivity - Why Do Teens Hate This?

As of a couple months ago, I have been the parent/guardian of three teenagers (so far).
All three pretty much refuse to use their phones for calendar events, reminders or to-dos. I explain how they work, i show them what they do. They just won’t do it.
And it’s not just them. Their friends are exactly the same. I went as far as asking a few of my 14 yo’s friends (they were talking about forgetting about assignments in school and getting NTIs
) to raise their hands if they use their phones to remind them of school stuff. Five kids. Zero hands.
You would have thought that I was asking them to use their phones to wipe with. It’s like the idea of using their phones for something other than entertainment and chatting with friends is heresy.
Some of you baws aren’t to far removed form HS, so can you please explain this to me?

Just because you can use a dildo as a paperweight or as a tool to smack the dog on the nose with when it pees in the house - does not mean you should.
A phone, like a dildo, should be used as God intended it.
Entertainment.

Are you happy you figured out your Jitterbug, gramps?

Most people aren't productive and/or keep calendars. Kids are younger immature people, I'm sure you can put two and two together.

I’m not familiar with that one. Where between the whip and the backpack dance does that fall chronologically?

I mean did you use a calendar when you were in HS? I sure as shite didn’t.

Is this actually the case?
If it is then I probably sound like an idiot, but how can you not do this? It’s so easy to tell google assistant or Siri to set a reminder

I have all those apps on my phone, too. A pad and pencil are easier.

Because they’re teens and just don’t care?

No, because my paper calendar didn’t work with voice commands

You really expect a 14 year old to use their smart phone for the calendar and reminder functions?

I meant a paper calendar, genius.
And if you used one in high school, you were probably a virgin.

So kids are not highly organized and trust their memories more than adults?
Totally shocking.

I think you can be even more general here...
hey don't even know how to use their phone as a tool.
It is just an internet portal to them, which is cool...for a while.

Obviously.
The point is that keeping a paper calendar is a PITA compared to picking up a hand held device and telling it to remind you of something

I used to get written up constantly for not using my agenda at school and my mom yelled at me for it.
I can see now that it would have been a good habit to develop. But I sometimes didn’t GAF as a kid when people told me what to do.

Disagree. Quicker for me to write something on a calendar that's easily visible than to pick up my phone and entering in a reminder. I'm 28 and I've never used the reminder function on my iPhone. I've never missed a deadline, appointment, etc. just using a paper calendar.

i don't either, got it all rolling around in my head.

My wife is that way. She has carried a paper planner for as long as I have known her (junior year in HS). Still does to the day and never forgets anything.
I just figured folks like y’all were outliers...maybe I’m the outlier.
