Old days you could get a clunker and fix it up with limited tools, cash, and experience.

Today with all the computers and sensors, you need more specialized tools, and have the computer diagnostic program.

Having a kid work on a clunker can be done. Just going to take more skill and ability to get their hands on the specialized tools.

I truly hope you find peace with your son Mr. Bowfin. I find the line between friend and parent a hard one to walk with my boys, and they’re not even teens yet.

I like the cut of your jib. Already told my 2 boys that when the day comes that they think they can take me to let me know... I'm ready to beat the frick out of them in the backyard.

Pull a Part isn't everywhere, but you can check the inventory of parted out vehicles AND the whole vehicles they have for sale. Most of the for sales have pictures. the prices are low. If I had teen aged son, he'd be given one to learn how to do things mechanical.
I kave a new patio and landscaping work being done. By mid - summer they'll be done. That's when I'm planning to get something for my son. The drive and workshop will be free then.

Some threads are threads that I just choose not to participate in,

I’m going to not participate by saying this:

“Some threads are threads that I just choose not to participate in. “

Even though I slightly did, im really not.
I’m pretty sure I understand that.

My first car was from a junk yard. Spent a year working on it as a boy. Kept me in check on weekends. Fond memories

The first he got knocked out.

I regret both.
