not defending this guy but in every war you have people that want to stay in the rear with the gear rather than go in harms way, there used to be Jews in these camps that were sort of "trustees," that would assist in the exterminations to save their own skins, or at least delay their turn, if any of these people are alive, how do you deal with them?

I didn’t say we were convicting him of being a pussy. What I’m trying to get you to understand is that he had a choice to do what he did.
He didn’t have to be a concentration camp guard. He chose that life.
The Nazis were mobilizing 12 year olds to fight in 1945. They would not have turned away a trained soldier from the front.
There was also another alternative. If the Allies were so close, he could have surrendered and told the Allies what happened.
My point is that he could have done something else other than stay in the back line marching skeletons until they dropped.
War is hell and I understand the self preservation instinct. But remember... no fewer than 70 innocent people died to preserve this man, who lived the next 75 years in relative luxury. Some price he’s paid for their murders, of which he was complicit.

Get off your fake intellectual high horse.
If you know about history than you know the conditions at every concentration camp were subhuman. Quit pretending that forced labor, lack of food, unsanitary condition and forced marched were so morally superior to a gas chamber.
Just less effective.

don’t understand posts like this. Again, this was not a death camp. This was a concentration camp that also held POWs. We had these too.
I know the difference between a death camp and a concentration camp. There were no more operating death camps by 1945. They had all been captured or were destroyed in the attempt to cover up their existence.
You’re overlooking the forced march to evacuate this concentration camp as the Allies closed in. That’s the real crime here. That was a death march.

Ha. Yes, I know concentration camp conditions were subhuman. That includes ours.

Right... I get that in normal armies there are people who handle ammunition and food and clothing and toothbrushes for the other troops. Nothing wrong with that. But if they don’t like that job, they don’t have to do it. There’s never been an army on earth that has kept a man who wants to fight from fighting.
But in this army, he was a person who kept people in a camp, watching them starve. Then he participated in a march and watched them die of starvation. What service was he providing to the other troops on the front line? What support role did he play?
Open your eyes, folks. The Holocaust was not a normal military operation. It was organized murder. The Jews, disabled people, political prisoners, social outcasts, and POWs in that camp weren’t the “gear” in the rear. They were the victims of people like this guard, who could have asked to do something more honorable with his life and service to his country.

You also know the conditions were significantly better in American concentration camps.
It’s comparable, and we come out looking a lot better.
Stop your bullshite.

No, I mean We didn’t specifically choose to starve and work them to death.
Why do you feel the need to be a fraud?

Another on who thinks that every concentration camp was a death camp.
I would wager that plenty died at the CC. Maybe they didn't get the zyklon B showers, but there are plenty of other ways to die.
From the wiki:
quote:the population was ~42k. . .so that is 4200 deaths a month
By the end of 1942, the death rate had risen to 10% per month.

I am truly ashamed to be an American.
This man was a guard at a camp 75 years ago, and they kick him out of the country NOW???
We have millions of criminal illegals in this country that need to be deported, and the US govt wastes all this time and money to kick a 95 year old man out who’s been living here peacefully for decades?!?!?!

You’re more ashamed we’re kicking him out than the fact that we let a concentration camp guard live here practically and enjoy the American dream for 70 years with no consequences?

To find out who rules over you, simply find out who you are not allowed to criticize.
