When I was in my early twenties it was nothing. Now, one is unusual. Two is a wild night.

the first time I ever went to Milwaukee we stayed at some hotel near a residential area, I went out for a walk and I swear there was a bar literally on every corner and sometimes several per block, most of the places were bars downstairs and living quarters above for the owners, thought I was getting a glimpse of heaven

I lived most of my life in a dry county. Needless to say, there was a bit of a culture shock when I moved up here. But I've assimilated well

WVU has a bit of a drinking problem.

WV has a meth and opioid problem, drinking is not their problem up there.

What is this based upon I wonder.

I would agree Wisconsin drinks a lot of beer.

I have a feeling as you head below i10 you’ll have a lot of hard liquor drinkers.

Don’t care what you say or who your mom is, hard alcohol is way worse and it takes a lot less to do more.

In the same way that every southern town with one stop sign has a church on one or more corners, in Wisconsin those will be taverns. Out in the country there will be a random bar with no houses even in sight and you’re going “where do people come from to booze here?!”

The tavern culture is deeply ingrained in the culture of the people and state.

Kentucky not living up to perceptions.
We have a lot of dry counties, especially in Eastern KY. The Bible Belt runs strong through the mountains.

If you look at the map it's pretty easy to see where Lexington and Louisville are, and the yellow counties between them are the Bourbon Trail.

Plenty of drinking to be had here. Come to Keeneland or a UK football tailgate, you'll be handed bourbon or moonshine every 5 min.

Moving from LA to MN I don't agree with this at all.

Maybe I'm hanging out in the wrong places but drinking culture is far heavier in LA than here.

I think I need to go hang in Wisconsin.

Man, that map is really sobering. I thought we were holding our own down here but I see Louisiana has some catching up to do.

Poor Arkansas, I luv that state but half their counties are dry so that's why they're so green.

That’s the secret, don’t have any counties and you can’t make the list

Is that Ascension parish in red? I may be a contributor to that percentage.

It sho is cuz

Which is odd.

Precovid, iberville parish had the highest consumption per capita in the nation.

I think it might be because I no longer have to deal with my ex wife.

Had no idea until I saw a video on YouTube about it. Blew my mind. They don’t have coffee shops there, they have soda shops. Pretty much everyone they talked to consumed AT LEAST 44 oz of soda a day. Many were 100+ oz a day.
