Tom Clancy wrote this into a book back in 2000. As fans know, he is quite accurate with his descriptions of the capabilities within the US arsenal.
I'm a former submariner and his level of detail regarding sub tactics and tech has been very close to spot on

I have a buddy that does this. Fire control man I think.
They shoot down satellites and shite for practice, pretty awesome stuff.

The USS Cole was in town for Nola Navy Week a few years ago. Their guy said they can track anything from horizon to horizon regardless of speed and altitude
He claimed if the USN is parked off the coast of N.Korea or China, an ICBM strike wouldn't even leave their own airspace before being intercepted

Pretty cool video from Raytheon showing the process for ballistic missile intercept and the SM-3: LINK
I love this shite... so bad arse.

The satellite images you see in Google Maps is '80s TS/SCI technology.
Really? Because I see things on google maps that were not around or built in the 80s. Maybe we use the technology from then, but the images are closer to being current.

I think he means that the technology that takes pics today, was super classified 30 years ago but common place now
