That Jive translator works better than Barbara Billingsly. I understood it just fine.

Spoken like a true race-baiter.

Check out the black versus white resume study

There is a freakin study for everything. Most of which are biased in order to paint a desired perception of whatever the study is used for.

quote:

the ones with traditional white names got significantly more callbacks been the one with traditional black sounding names

Does this really need to be explained to you? Seriously, right or wrong, it is the way it is. Sorry I would rather hire a Heather over a Lakisha any day. Does not mean I am racist or that I am right. And by what you have posted, a black man would rather hire Heather as well.

You should be disqualified from these types of conversations until you can provide some level of objectivity.

If you aren't articulate yes but you can speak "Urban English" and still be very articulate.

1. Traditional black names are more biblical names and French names, not all the apostrophe-Q-on-isha names of the past few decades. Think of famous black people named before the 1970's - Sam, Louis, Martin, Fredrick, Malcolm, Michael, Carl, Rosa, Jackie, Henry, Joe, Jesse, Bill.
2. Even the less common names are not what you are talking about. Do you really think people are discriminating against Booker or Denzel? People are discriminating against modern ghetto names.

And they should. Why would I hire some with the name of quaneishia?

Uh yes. The study used similar black sounding names such as the latter, and Tyrone. And you know what, they also used traditional white names with lots of letters.

But I get it. People do not discriminate against blacks more than others. Discrimination based on color is all a myth.

In my experience discrimination has more to do with socioeconomic and educational background. There is absolutely a major racial component to that. There are a disproportionate number of poorly educated urban blacks with generally shitty attitudes who, incidentally, hard-working intelligent black people don't want anything to do with either - racists that they are.

The NBER Study? The one that says this:

quote:

We perform a field experiment to measure racial discrimination in the labor market. We respond
with fictitious resumes to help-wanted ads in Boston and Chicago newspapers. To manipulate
perception of race, each resume is assigned either a very African American sounding name or a very
White sounding name
. The results show significant discrimination against African-American
names: White names receive 50 percent more callbacks for interviews. We also find that race affects
the benefits of a better resume. For White names, a higher quality resume elicits 30 percent more
callbacks whereas for African Americans, it elicits a far smaller increase.

The study also found:

quote:

Applicants living in better
neighborhoods receive more callbacks but, interestingly, this effect does not differ by race.

But race MUST be the prevailing factor -even though Lakisha and Emily get treated equally if they are from good neighborhoods.
