With the cameras on the tail and underbelly for passengers to view on A380's, I wonder why they don't point some at the engines/wings with a display in the cockpit.

What i cant tell is if the engine was on fire before the plane left contact with the ground

They have an alarm that goes off when they have a fire and they can climb on one engine.
Have to wait for the audio recorder to know what went down..

Doesn't the MD-11 have three engines? You would think two would get it off the ground, no?

Im aware, just seems it'd be nice to have eyes on the engines. You hear about these crashes where they shut down the good engine on accident, it couldn't hurt to have a camera on them and on a screen in the cockpit.

Maybe they'd have noticed the huge fire early enough in this case.

Man, shut the frick up until you know what happened. And by the way, based on that video, the plane was on fire before it crashed. I didn’t know ATC prevented fire.

That fire was raging, had to affect the flight controls.
