Yeah, if there's one issue I want to be quoted about in the newspaper, it's complaining about children getting airlifted to a hospital.

Granted the residents are coming off looking like bad guys here. But maybe a little sympathy is in order? The helipad wasn't there when they bought their houses. This thing was pitched as a temporary measure that now has been made permanent, according to the article. Nobody wants to be woken up at 4 AM by a helicopter. It's hard go to against sick kids, but it sounds like the institution is throwing its weight around the neighborhood.

Arthur's facebook page (and name) tell me he's pretty much the quintessential "uppity hipster."

Maybe the hospital should buy Arthurs house and turn it into the cry room.

I will give them this...that helo is loud as frick but that train is just as loud...especially when they are switching cars and banging into each other...that area just has a lot going on with the boats in the river blowing horn and running their engines in revers, trains blowing horns and banging rail cars, helicopters....

Ditto. Asked a few of our neighbors about this and they agreed.
Shocker of TP to find the one person that is irrationally irritated and make a news story about of it.

I was at the giraffe exhibit at the zoo the other day when a heli came in to piss off the residents. Giraffe's weren't fazed at all.

Giraffe's have better coping abilities than some of the residents.

My wife, no pics, has worked at CHNOLA for almost 20 years, neighborhood people are always bitching about something with the hospital...

frick em....

Place has been there 65 years... Most of those assholes probably moved in when the place was already there...

Reminds me of the people who bitch about our kid's school and the car pool line.. The school has been there 90 fricking years, When they moved near it, what the frick did they expect...

Don't want to be bothered, don't buy the house...

I live in the area. The helipad does not bother me, like someone else said the barges and train are more of a nuisance. The only issue I have with Children’s is the traffic on Henry Clay. I wish there was an alternate route to get to and from the hospital when coming from Leake ave/Carrollton.

For fricks sake...... these dipshits lawyered up? The old pad is very low to the ground and less than 100ft from the front door. Imagine a world where you know a sick kid is either coming or going and you're mad because the sound of the vessel is bothering you.

Several years ago one of my children was being treated for a malignant brain tumor at Childrens. We stayed in patient for 6-8 weeks at a time so I we have a pretty big emotional connection it. That helicopter is VERY loud but exciting for the kiddos to see it take off. I just don’t understand how anyone choosing to live around the hospital can bring themselves to complain about something that’s literally a part of saving children’s lives. How does someone bring themselves to ignore that fact?

Thankful for that hospital and their staff for all they did for my family and continue to do for others.
