Tell them you will settle for the $11.50 in interest you missed out on during those 10 days because you were going to invest that money starting immediately. Then sue those motherfrickers. How dare these fricking thieves. I'm ready to riot.

You can and should talk to the police. It is legal theft to keep money that isn't rightly theirs, so the painters are obligated to return it.

I'd be annoyed too, but sounds like they need to have their fraud team look at it then they will refund your money.

Or maybe talk to the painter and have them bring the 6k back.

The police will tell him there is nothing they can do and to let the bank complete their investigation.

They should at least give you a provisional credit for the amount until they finish their investigation. That way, you have access to your money, but if they decide that there was no error, they take the money back. If it was a mistake, you already have your money back. My bank does that.

That being said, Wells Fargo is the worst bank of all time. Slimy, dishonest...I would rather sleep with my life savings under my mattress for the rest of eternity than ever do business with them again.

You'll get your money back but once you do, switch banks and move on.

And F the retards on here acting like 6k isn't real money.

Threatening to contact law enforcement might light a fire under their arse.

When we called, they said it was clearly a clerical error but they couldn’t refund me the money until their fraud team looked at it.

It will probably be a day or two.

What law has the bank broken that the police will be enforcing?

This the benefit of using a credit card. There are different charge back rules and they would immediately credit you. Pin debit (chip) and checks follow nacha rules meaning it may be a bit before you are credited back... Assuming they even do.

Who would give a written check in this situation?

When someone says we will take off 1.5% if you write us a check would send an alarm ringing for a 60.00 savings?

I am thinking this didn't happen.

I don't think the painters got extra; that's why I think he keeps calling it a "clerical" error.

Regardless, I think the OT is getting stupider by the day.
