Why is this the "go-to" defense every time someone speaks poorly about Greeks in these threads? This is about on par with the maturity level of "I know you are, but what am I"...which is about age 7.

No different than the geeds standard "I didn't have to pay for my friends"

Yes I'm sure you did. But limiting yourself to non-Greek people is shrinking your population of quality freinds and contacts.

And just to be clear, I'm not saying you had to be Greek, by any stretch. But shutting out those that are is limiting, just as if you shite out blacks, women, engineering majors etc.

Again, the hate is not really a 2 way street, so it makes me wonder where it comes from on the non Greek side

I never limited myself to not having frat friends. They excluded me because I didn’t want to pay a fee to hang out with them

Well, fraternities are on the way out as a whole. The SJWs will be drive them out existence soon enough. No one wants to join a fraternity to have someone babysit them.

I never met any Greek that wouldn’t hang out with someone just because they weren’t in the frat.

I highly doubt that was the reason

My experience was the same.

If there was actually someone like this, which I'm sure there were, they probably didn't have many freinds to begin with and that includes their frat bros

Except that one of them is rooted in fact, and one of them isn’t.

I mean you can shine it all you want, but Greek life is basically paying (handsomely) for access to social events and friends.

I don't think the entire autopsy has been released.

Oh I was never the guy in that situation. I did end up with a sorority girl though, just one who didn't care about something stupid like that.

That's not how it works. Just saying.

You don't pay any fees to hang out. We had many dudes who were constantly at our house and weren't brothers. They just became good friends with the guys and were always at our parties. Never rushed. Never pledged.

You can't pay money to make people like you. You can't pay money to get a bid. If you hang out and are liked, you will get rushed. Then if you are still liked, you'll get bid. If you accept the bid, you can pledge. There's no money that's been exchanged at this point, and it's predicated on the idea that you are someone that people like. If you are well liked and visit multiple houses, you'll get multiple bids and YOU get to decide which group (fraternity) you'd like to pledge (which group of guys you like the most).

We had guys who went through the whole process and never pledged and ended up being friendly with us all through school. It's not for everyone. But it is a good way to meet people. Especially girls. If you're into that sort of thing.

LSU fraternity pledge Maxwell Gruver, who died in September following a hazing event called "Bible Study," was "targeted" in the drinking game, according to the arrest reports of 10 men, eight of whom were active members of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity at LSU.

it isn't that expensive, and I knew many of my fraternity brothers long before I went to LSU, so you are pretty much false all the way around

If they rushed this kid just to haze him or scheduled the "Bible study" just to force him out I hope they face worse charges.
