Incorrect. Every time you have your vehicle serviced at a mechanic or body shop, or take it in for brake tag, it goes in the system. Even if you take your vehicle to a 5 Minute Oil Change it comes up on the CarFax.

Even if he has the VIN # the car won't show up on Carfax. Carfax only works with 17 character VIN #s from 1981 or later. A MGA is from the 50-60s.

Where did your Dad live? and where was the car most recently?

I've got lists of MG clubs and British Car clubs and they have lots of connections. A couple of city names would be where to start. I think you can PM me here. (there's an MG registry that works to serve people all over North America.)

Just because the technology at your shop is behind the curve doesn’t mean that the vast majority of big commercial shops don’t post their records to some form of database.

Most people from SE LA call it a brake tag. I’d never heard it called anything else until I moved to Texas.

Check to see if he ever wrote a check to a repair place in Houston - old car guys typically use the same repair place.

Try this or credit card statement for the timeframe that the tow occurred

Might also check his bank statements in case he paid with a check. They should have scans of any he wrote.

Bitch, I pay more for estimating software and Alldata than a majority of dealerships do. I stay ahead of the times when it comes to repair methods and am an avid beta tester for all new pipeline products that benefit repair shops.

I was the first to switch to waterborne paint in Louisiana. I was the first to adopt CCCInformation services’ “Repair Methods” (after beta testing for 2 years). I was the first shop in the state of Louisiana to update to a Ford “certified” aluminum repair facility (that includes Ford Dealerships). I stay ahead of the game on all shop-related technology and there is still no way for me to report to Carfax.

You’re talking out your arse to protect the false validity of your post. GFYS

You want a cookie? Bitch?

All I know is that every oil change and repair I’ve ever gotten (and I’ve never gone to a dealership) shows up on my Carfax.

I’m not talking out of my arse, I’m speaking from experience. If it’s such a big deal to you that you want to start talking shite instead of being civil, I’ll be driving in from Texas on Friday afternoon.

Yeah I’ve taken my trucks to places like Cottman, AutoZone, Penzoil Oil Changes, other well known national shops, body and mechanics and the only thing that shows up on Car Fax is the Ford Dealerships.

What I tell clients who are executors of wills is to monitor the mail and, if they have the passwords, monitor emails, text messages, and voice mails. Hopefully, all of the decedent's assets and liabilities will surface. Good luck.

Cork, good to see you. I hope you are well.

I went through a similar thing with Pops 19 and some of his missing property. Went through bank statements to see where storage unit was in Katy.

The executor of the estate will have access to bank acct statements once the will is probated. (Probate court downtown Houston is a bitch with parking) get it done asap...before the car is harder and harder to recover.

You should be able to track down the tow truck co. From there and where it was delivered.

I am very happy to hear this, and wish you all the best.

I'm fine and became a grand dad last year. Hard to believe she will be 1 in less than 2 weeks.

Continued success, Cork.

If he lived in a neighborhood maybe check with the neighbors? My neighbor has a bad arse security system and I’ve been able to get a look at vehicles on the street in the past. Not sure how much history in those things.

VIN is all you need to find out from the state police. Usually, the "last 8" is all you need. Good luck finding your Pop's car.

Preciate it, will look into that and the two British car places tomorrow. I think it’s out in Katy bc I’m at the 10,000 block of Katy Freeway

Someone, a friend or somebody, has to know where it went.
